The Wisconsin women's team has rebounded nicely from an opening-game loss to South Dakota State and tonight defeated #6 Baylor to win the Paradise Jam Tournament. The final was 59-58 with Alyssa Karel hitting a jumper with 7 seconds left to provide the final margin. The Badgers scored the last six points of the game and survived a Baylor trip to the free throw line with .5 seconds left, only to watch the Baylor player miss both free throws.

This is a season-changing kind of win, one that hasn't happened under Lisa Stone. The last time the Badgers beat a Top Ten team was under Jane. This may have been a job-saving kind of win even, especially if they can build on this and get into the NCAA Tournament. There are lowered expecations this year for the program, but if they don't do something good it could be the end for Stone.

Actually, quite a good showing by UWM.

UW wins in 2OT...

The Badgers had a 16 point lead in the second half and blew it. Not a very impressive game by either team, actually. Far too many turnovers and some not very good shooting by UW. Rae Lin was 2-11 from the floor, 0-3 beyond the arc, and had five assists and six turnovers. Alyssa Karel was even worse with 3-14 from the floor and 1-7 beyond the arc. Traci Edwards had a big game for Milwaukee with 30 and became the all time leading scorer in school history tonight.
Knowledge is good.

Karel's stat line is misleading, she was clutch at the end of the game, and her one made three was an NBA ranger that forced overtime.

Yeah I'm reserving judgment on them for when the get to the conference schedule they're picked to finish 9th or 10th in, but they have done a heck of a job with their non-conference schedule. If they are in the NCAA tourney picture at the end of the year that Baylor win could be huge for them.

in my opinion the badgers record is better than what they actually are. i hope in the long run i'm wrong. but they're overachieving which is good. i don't think over the course of the season they'll keep it up. (for the record, not a rae lin fan) its good that dunham is starting to get healthy again and am interested to see how she does...
