So today I decided to go up to our hunting land and get everything ready for gun season. I've been busy lately, so I haven't been in my stand at all this year. My stand for gun season is a tower stand we built 4 years ago, and it is (or should I say was) in perfect shape.

I walked up to it today and saw it was leaning really bad. My ladder and the sides of my stand (which is 14 feet up) were scratched pretty bad. I climbed up the ladder and looked in the window and pretty much got the biggest shock ever. They rug I had on the floor was basically shredded, the floor was all scratched up, and there was crap everywhere. I thought it was bear scat, but I was pretty sure that wasn't possible. My cousin is a wildlife biologist, and he confirmed that I had a bear hibernate in my hunting stand last winter due to all the signs. So somehow, a black bear (size unknown) climbed through a 2.5 foot by 2.5 foot window and trashed my stand.

I could see a bear accidentally climbing in someone's stand. But hibernating? Honestly I think I'm one of the few people that can say they've had this happen...I'm dumbfounded.

I wondered that too. Unless there was still a lot of snow on the ground, he would've felt it.

Maybe it was Skip Bayless/acesmix... you he wanted to meet you, Gronezy... he even looked you up on Facebook!

Maybe he wanted to send a "thinking of you" message with the bear scat?

You thought that was scary when you looked in there now, just think if you would have went and looked in there this winter when it was still in there sleeping!!!! I'm guessing there would have been more than scat than from the bear!!!!

I have a permanent stand on my uncle's land in the UP. First season in there I spent all summer building it, hiking over a mile across a ravine and creek to get there with my lumber and supplies, baited every week driving 4 or 5 hours to get there. Anyways, first actual fall I got up there to hunt and my uncle tells me there is bear scat all around my bait pile, first morning sure enough (with bear pepperspray in hand (ha ha)) I walk in on a bear chewin up my apples, corn, (and brusselsprouts, see deer don't see so good so they gotta rely on the ooold factory)). Suffice to say I didn't see anything in that stand for quite some time afterwards.

Being in sales is tough. Just when you think your day of rejections is over you end up going home to your wife for a couple more rounds.

I'm going out to fix my stand tomorrow (no school []) and I'm gonna take some pics of all the damage. I'll have them on facebook.
