It is a complete shame how little school spirit I have seen from attending games in the conference this year. Student sections with few kids in it and they are just sitting there on there cell phones or talking to each other and not standing or even wearing the school colors.

I grduated High school in the late 80's and every game no matter where you went was a packed house and each school had big student sections that cheered the whole game. Students are the ones who are probably the biggest part of creating a great atmosphere on their home court and I encourage them to stop thinking that they are to cool to stand up and cheer for their team!!

Welcome to the world of high school sports now. I have also been out of high school for a quite a few years and still continued to go and be supportive of the teams and each year notices the school spirit was getting worse. It got so bad 2 years ago I just decided it wasn't worth the time or money any longer. Now I just go on-line and see how my hometown did and I don't miss going one bit. High school students are more worried about texting and Ipods. I'm sure glad we didn't have that shit growing up.
Connor Kurki could be starting QB for Badgers this year no doubt!!

I agree is gotten so be a joke. There are still good places to go where school spirit is high. Going to a game in the FVA conference is great. The OC has gotten terrible though. So sick of seeing all the students in the stands joking around and talking the whole game while their friends are on the floor playing their butts off.

Is there any way to change it and tun things around like in the old days when it seemed like the roof was gonna blow off the gym?

I agree with this entirely. It is a shame when you go to games and the players are busting their tails representing their schools, and as parents and fans, looking into the student section, if anyone is there, and see them sitting there and probably not even aware of the score. I have seen more movement in studyhall than what I see with some of the students at the games. Some students project the image that it is all about me.....let me go to the game and see you recognizes me. School spirit needs to make a comeback starting with the students. When parents get up and start the cheers and actually drown out the student section.....SOMETHING IS WRONG.
