Lebron James never wins an NBA championship. How will the media portray him and would he have any contention with being the GOAT, or one of them?

I'm giving you +2 because it's a decent topic and some spineless dirtbag negged you without explaining it.

As for your question, if LeBron James never wins a ring, he will go down as absolutely, positively, the GOAT without one. The media will never let him forget it, not in a harrassing way, just the same way that Dan Marino will forever be the best quarterback without a Super Bowl.

He can't ever be the best without winning one, but he can certainly be top 10 - look at Karl Malone.
Ricky Rubio will be a Pamela Anderson sized bust.

He wasnt asking if lebron will be top 10 or w.e he asking if he will be a goat for not getting a ship. Kobe isnt the best in the world and he isnt and will never be the greatest basketball player in the NBA neither will lebron we all know Jordan was and that list thing i bet MJ could kill that

I know I am was just saying Kobe is not even Top 10 GOAT and he has won the ship 4 times. I was just bringing that out to show what Kobe has done but he is not a Top10 GOAT in most peoples opinion. These days winning a Championship is what you have to do to get high on a GOAT list and LeBron will need to do that to get on any list.

Luckily for LeBron, he still has a good 14 years left in the league...

Kobe isn't Top 10 GOAT because he didnt accomplish in his first 3 seasons what Lebron has, Lebron was ROY and already averaging almost 30 a game, it took Kobe 5 years or so to accomplish that, and Kobe got a ring in year 4 yes, but he didnt get one on his "own" til 31 or however old he is now, so that's why Kobe isn't sniffing top 10 GOAT, and Lebron could be, based on if he keeps up his statistics and gets a few titles which im sure will happen.

Kobe is like one of only six players in league history to have at least 4 rings, an MVP, and a Finals MVP. LeBron has a long ways to go to catch up.
CURRENT RING COUNT
MBC2K4: 0
LeBron James: 0

Lebron is like one of only 4 players in league history to be a 5 time NBA all star, 5 time All NBA, ROY, and NBA MVP in only 6 seasons

It's not that hard when you are the center of the team and you have to do everything all the time for your team to win. LeBron does a lot of things for his team that Kobe didn't have to do early in his career. Kobe had to give the ball to Shaq for years and also had to be an option behind many Verteran Lakers. Kobe has got one by hiself but LeBron hasn't yet. Yes LeBron has time to go but to say Kobe isn't Top 10 GOAT because he has been out played by LeBron in his first 3 years is ridiculous.

Then why did the Cleveland Cavaliers have the best record in the NBA this year? Kobe could have done (tried to do) what Lebron did in early stages of his career (kobe would have been dumb to try carrying team because he wasn't even best player on his team) but he could have tried. Kobe did not have to give the ball to Shaq for years, he did it because he would have been stupid as hell not to, I mean Shaq at that time was the most dominant player in the NBA and it showed based on how teams played him. I'm not saying Kobe should be penalized for not being as good as Shaq and being the 2nd tier on a team, but what I am saying is this, Lebron would never and won't ever (except for in his later years of NBA career) play 2nd tier to a player. Kobe was the #2 guy for a good sized portion of his career, as a team he accomplished alot of great things, but as far as individual accolades, Lebron looks more impressive if you put their first 6 years together, by a longshot. Also did I say Lebron was in Top 10 GOAT? No, I don't think Lebron's career is more impressive than Kobe's career by any means (right now.) I think Lebron will end up higher on the GOAT list than Kobe, but Lebron also has a good 6 or 7 years on Kobe so I would hope he'd be able to. Obviously Kobe's career right now is more impressive, what I said was, if you were basing GOAT status on their first 3 seasons obviously Lebron would get the nod over Kobe, but Lebron if he keeps his stats around what they are now and wins a few titles, he will be above Bryant guarenteed.

I think using the point that Kobe played second fiddle on a team is an unfair point. He was second fiddle to Shaq, arguably one of the most dominant big men ever. Michael Redd is the number one option on the Bucks. I don't think there's a person here that would take Redd over Kobe in his fifth year in the league. (And there's a picture of Redd on Kobe's wikipedia page. woo)

But on the other hand, saying that LeBron only puts up numbers because he's the only option is waaaaay out of bounds, too. Kobe was in that situation. Look what happened after Shaq was shipped to Miami. Kobe was in the prime of his career, and sure he scored a lot, but not much else (stat-wise, for someone always with the ball), and the Lakers missed the play-offs, or were eliminated early.

Still, Kobe is easily one of the most complete players of all time. I think the conversation really gets interesting if LeBron can win a ring wih his hodgepodge bunch of role players. That I think would be one of the most impressive feats in the game.

I think if LeBron never gets one, (which I doubt, incredibly) he'd be the first on the list of the players on the next tier. The group behind Michael, Kareem, Russell, Wilt, Bird Magic, Shaq, Kobe, and maybe a few others.
