I was informed from a few west baseball players that they have been given their first wvc loss, due to a controversial cancelation.....west was down 7-6 to spash in the bottem of the 7th...with 2 men on and 1 out when they called the delay....both coaches must agree to cancel the game and finish the game the next meeting....the spash coach decided to not agree with west coach so the spash coach took it to the wvc commitee i believe and they decided the hand west their first conference loss.....what does everyone think aobut this?

The score was 4-3, not 7-6. ?And, the rule book states, that the game will revert back to the last "complete" inning. ?Which was the 6th, therefore giving SPASH the win... Unfortunately, the umpires working the game made a mistake when they allowed it to be considered an incomplete game. ?Later in the week, the SPASH coach took it up with the WIAA and was able to get the game ruled complete, giving them the win. ?Good for SPASH, very unfortunate the West. ? ?

kinda of a bush league move? i dont see why they can't just play it out before the next meeting...its not like its never happend before...well all preach that sportsmanship is the key...but is this really the right way to win a game? how do you as a player on the spash team feel about this....we won even though they had guys one 2nd and 3rd with 1 out....pretty good feeling i guess..

As much as this made me mad, they did it within the rules. I wish they would have continued it tonight.

The only way that this game would have had to be continued was if Point had scored in the top of the 7th to take the lead. Instead they scored in the 6th to take the lead, therefore the WIAA can make that ruling fairly since he team got equal at bats and what not.

All that being said, West still controls their destiny and can take a large step to capturing the valley crown by beating Point in Point tonight.

This in not a busch league move. It was in the rules as a complete game. Put yourself in that situation. IF your team was playing the top team in the conference and you had the lead into the 6th and they called it im sure you would not complain about taking the win. There is nothing BS about it. West lost.

SPASH didn't make the "rules." If the roles had been reversed, do you really think the West coach would have done anything different? Heck no........Believe it or not, high school coaches have to win games to keep their jobs. A "win" is a "win", a "loss" is a loss." No use crying over spilled milk!
