It is a short week since games are played this Wednesday. Here is week 9 schedule.

Week 9:
Monroe @ Monona Grove
Edgewood @ Stoughton
Deforest @ Oregon
Fort Atkinson @ Milton

My Picks:
Monroe- First time in 5 years they are in position to make the playoffs in 5 years. I am picking them to win more out of hope then logic. They (monroe) are a pretty good team this year, although probably not as good as MG. I say this statement all the time when it comes to Monroe this year but they just keep proving me wrong. Monona Grove is the better team, but Monroe does seem to have something going right for them.

Edgewood- This game is tough to call. These teams have been up and down all season. Each team must win in order to make the playoffs. So there is alot on the line in this game. I think talent wise each team is rather equal. Ill take Edgewood since they have proven they know what it takes to make the playoffs (past years success). Could go either way.

Deforest- I know Oregon has played really good these past 3 weeks. However, Deforest is the better team and has been playing really well also. I think it will be a good game but Deforest's high powered offense will prevail in the end. This is another tough game to call.

Milton- Despite being in first place and having Fort in last, both these teams have a long standing rivalry and both have something to play for. Milton has to win this game to assure a undisputed conference championship. Fort has some pride on the line and has been competitive in almost all their games so I suspect this game might be closer then expected.

Monroe because... like sportsfan18 said, hope. MG should win handily, but the Cheesemakers (though they aren't great, but are flashy at times) are in a spot to make this town proud of their football team again.

Stoughton because... Well, they did impress me more than Edgewood - at least for one half. Either way, neither team was as good as I thought. I pick Stoughton for two reasons, and two reasons alone - 1) they are at home, 2) they need the win to make playoffs. You want to know why else this would be awesome if Stoughton won? That would give 6 of the 7 BS teams with at least a .500 record in conference and a +.500 overall record. That means that it is highly likely 6 teams from the BS would be playoff eligible and make it! Wowsers!

DeForest because... I don't know. I just picked them. Oregon has been rolling though.

Milton because... Fort stinks. I mean they are molding trash barrel in the corner of a New Orleans basement stinky. Also, I would like to set the Vegas line at 44.5 in favor of Milton. Why just 44.5? Because I have a good feeling that, with Playoffs around the corner and a terrible team across from them, many reserves will see 3Q+ of playing time.

So if anyone wants to add in their pick for my M/FA line, you will get a bonus point if predicted correctly. Why? Because Stone Cold said so.

I'll take Fort and the points.

With the forecast of rain for Wednesday night..........

Monroe @ Monona Grove
If this game was in Cheese land, I'd take Monroe....It's going to be a close game.

Edgewood @ Stoughton
As much as I'd like to see our neighbors make the playoffs, I just see Edgewood pulling this one out.

Deforest @ Oregon
Interesting game for the Panthers. Not sure how we will approach this non-conference, last game before the playoffs. Use it as a scrimmage??? Play a bunch of reserves in the 2nd half??? Don't show much of the playbook??? Just treat it as another game?? DF is in the same postion, what are they thinking? Whatever the coaches decide, Oregon will need to crank it up a notch as DF is very good team.

Fort Atkinson @ Milton

Milton wins, however due to the rain I'll take Fort and the points on my parlay card

I suspect that the coaches would like to win this game and treat it like any other since this could help towards seeding. Also the playbook thing seems alittle far fetched. At this point in the season there is really not anything to hide as far as playbook is concerned. Im sure any team you will encounter in the playoffs will be well versed in how your offense looks and your tendencies. This does not mean Prahl cant come up with some new plays come playoff time! Should be a hard fought game.

Sportsfan18,

I forgot to put the behind the playbook reference. Anybody who's seen us play more than one game this year knows our tendency is to run up the middle. Many of us old Panther alumni hope that Bob comes up with some new plays for the 2nd season. We just about fell out of our seats at Fort last friday when we sucessfully ran a screen play!

This game is still very important for both teams. It will probably determine who plays at home in the first round of the playoffs, as well as seeding. If either team's coaches are smart, they will treat it as any other big game, since no team wants to enter the postseason with a loss. Oregon better come to play.

Oregon lost to DF 27 - 13. Game was a little closer than score indicates as DF scores from inside the 10 with 46 seconds left. We shot ourselves in the foot with 3 delay of game, 2 intentional grounding and 1 (maybe 2, can't remember) personal foul penalties. For awhile the refs appeared they wanted to be the stars of the show as they had some questionalbe calls both ways, trouble spotting the ball at the original line of scrimage after incomplete passes, and some kind of mix up near the end of the first half on DF's touchdown. Nelson was our leading rusher with 42 yds. Knipfer had very few rushing attmepts.

Very solid conference, one of if not the most internally competive conferences in the state. I would say that the re-alignment worked rather well. You bring in a couple of traditionaly strong programs in Milton and Fort, and some of the traditional cellar dwellars in the Bs Step up and things really get interesting this year, it was fun to watch.
