So much for upset picks. Congrats to tigersfan05 and justintyem for picking all 5 games correctly last week. I was on the other end of the rankings with only one correct pick. Ouch. Anyway, here we go for week 6:

Kimberly - duh
Oshkosh West - Fondy might win if game was at Fondy
Kaukauna - please show that your win over Appleton West was not a fluke, even though it was
Appleton West - throw records out the window in this rivalry game
Oshkosh North - 2nd best team in FVA, in spite of their coach

Just curious terrordad, when predicting oshkosh north...why in spite of their coach?

Not to mention O-North players were flexing their arms after plays, twisting ankles, and talking crap. They get that from their coach who was chest bumping and hooting and hollering just like them.

You guys hit the nail on the head about the O-North coach. My son asked me not to say anything here about what happened in our game with them, but let's just say that our experiences were similar and left coaches, players, and fans with a sour taste in their mouths. He's a young coach with a lot to learn about respect for his own players, his opponents, and the game itself. I think he reads these boards too, so if others have similar feelings, it sure would be nice to hear them, even though I doubt it will have any impact on him.

Chris Kajuwa is a great guy, but he does show some antics that are too extreme. He is really good friends with all of my coaches and last year after North's season was over, he came to one of our practices and wished us all luck in the playoffs. Not saying he is a bad person...he just needs to show some better sportmanship and if his players see that they will follow.

I hear your local grocery store has a great meal deal this week...purchase a piping hot broasted crow and humble pie and get a pound of sour grapes free!

I'm amazed at the firestorm I set off with one little offhand remark. The number of comments suggests that this is much more than sour grapes, particularly when some of them are from players whose teams BEAT the Spartans. So, will you be shopping at the same local grocery store this week, Spartanfan?

Winning a little does not create a license to do whatever you want and then accuse your detractors of sour grapes. Especially when you've only won 3 times, and still have a good chance of not even making the playoffs. Nobody likes to lose, but it's easier to lose to a team that shows class, good sportsmanship, and respect for their opponent. We've seen that several times this season, and my hat is off to the coaches and players from those teams.

P.S. WAY TO GO APPLETON EAST

While an argument could be made that your post merits no reply, I cannot leave it unchallenged, for fear that others might reach the same unwarranted conclusions about me that you apparently have. First of all, as you point out, I am proud to be the father of an Appleton West football player. I have been at all of his games this year and last, and am confused at your suggestion to the contrary. I cheer for his team, I enjoy it when they win and hate it when they lose, and I am proudest of them when they play hard, clean, fair football. I do not condone poor sportsmanship by them any more than by anyone else. I saw the hit on Juston Wara, and found it frightening and inappropriate. I was relieved to learn that Juston is apparently ok, and I believe the player involved in the incident was relieved also. The appropriate penalty was enforced. That should have been the end of it.

As far as the other incidents you mention, I know nothing of them, and so cannot comment. I only know this: one incident of poor sportsmanship does not justify another. It seems that what you are suggesting in your post is that since other teams are showing bad sportsmanship, it's ok for your team to do so as well. That is unmitigated hogwash, and serves only to perpetuate the problems of which we speak. We all need to do a better job of showing respect and good sportsmanship, not sink to the level of those we criticize.
