Well now we are into week 5 of the season and some teams are starting to gear up for the playoffs, while others are starting to dust of those basketball sneakers and wrestling shoes. I would like to say congrats to Pec for another conference title...I know it is not official yet, but we all know they will not lose 2 games in conference anymore. They had a hard schedule early and took care of busisness, like always. I do believe people are still hoping that Ridge and Pec can meet later in the playoffs this year, instead of the 2nd round.

Week 4 was ugly for me, I went 3-2 and was never confident in my Cassville pick over Highland. Benton I would have never guessed to beat Potosi. Hats of to Benton who is looking good after a week 1 butt whooping by Black HAwk. The bad week brought me season down to 17-3, but this week should be a 5-0 week for me. I was a little too cocky going into last week, so I went back to the basics...Here we go:

Black Hawk @ Highland...Highland got win #1 of the season last week, and is only a few big plays on offense from being a solid 3-1 team, they have good D and good coaching, they also get better throughout the year. I still think Black HAwk has something to prove after last week against Pec, the Warriors want to be looked at as a playoff threat to go deep into the playoffs. I think Goodman should be getting back to 100%, I hope, and the Warriors play some solid D...Black Hawk 20 Highland 7.

Seneca @ Cassville...I think the Comets are fools gold, they looked like a million dollars after week 1, but have turned out to be just below average team after 4 weeks. Cassville is responsible for 2 or my 3 loses so I am having a hard time picking this team. Six Rivers is 4-0 in non conference games this year, but will be 4-1 after the fools gold wears off. Give me Seneca 33 Cassville 21

Belmont @ Potosi...Potosi has to be sick to their stomachs after losing last week to Benton. That was a must have game, but Potosi still has playoff talent. I think Belmont plays hard but is just not good. Potosi rolls over the Braves and wins. Potosi 34 Belmont 0

Shullsburg @ River Ridge...Battle of 3-1 teams, winner will most likely a playoff shoe in. The loser still needs to do a little work. Gille went crazy against NC last week, but Ridge has a different defense and has only given up 12 points in 3 the last 3 games. Homecoming at Ridge and speed kills. Mezera, Martin, Martin, Mezera, ETC. you all know how it goes...Ridge 35 Shullsburg 12

Benton @ Pec...PEc is rolling and Benton has not seen a team like Pec yet this year, Benton is young and not ready for a team like this. Pec Rolls 34 Benton 6, and rolls the rest of the year to a #1 seed in the division 6 playoffs.

Should be a fun week 5, stay healthy and enjoy the games.[]

As always, trying to make picks in the Six Rivers is like a big guessing game! So here are my guesses for this week:

Black Hawk @ Highland -- Highland plays real good defense, but not good enough to hold Black Hawk down! Black Hawk wins!

Seneca @ Cassville -- Hmm Can Seneca beat Cassville? Yup!

Belmont @ Potosi -- Potosi let one slip away last week. This week a victory won't slip away!

Shullsburg @ River Ridge -- I'd love to pick the Miners, but River Ridge is too good!

Benton @ Pec/Argyle -- Sorry Zephyrs, The Vikings are way too good!
