After the game, referee Scott Green said the officials realized afterward the touchdown should have counted, though it wouldn't have affected the result.

Thats the quote from the head referee. Kind of sucks because i got the Pitt defense and that would be 8 pts because of the fumble and touchdown.

So Mike Pereira just explained the entire situation and what happened at the end of the Steelers-Chargers game. I know it doesn't really matter anymore but it is interesting with what the officials in the game did.

The play happened, and there was no flag thrown on the play (the officials ruled both laterals were backwards). After Polamalu scored, the replay official in the booth buzzed down to say you need to see if the first lateral was forward (which it was), so the referee game out and announced that the penalty was declined, touchdown (which is the correct call). But as the Steelers were lining up for the XP, some of the other officials started saying the play should have been blown dead since Chambers' lateral hit the ground.

So that is why they took the touchdown off the board, because the officials misinterpreted the rules. Had Tomlinson's lateral hit the ground the play would have been blown dead. But since it didn't the play should have counted, but since there was an illegal forward pass on the play, once the ball hit the ground some of the officials thought that should have ended the play.

Jaws made a good point, if the Steelers were to end up in a tie for a playoff spot, and the it came down to the points scored tiebreaker, the Steelers have just sort of been screwed out of a possibly 6-7 extra points that could help them win that tiebreaker if it came down to that.

Tell that to someone who took Pittsburgh giving 4!!! [:-] tomlinson's is still close, I haven't seen a good angle or anything that I can slow down enough to see for sure.

Apparently, $66 million of the $100 million bet on the game in Las Vegas was on Pittsburgh to cover. The bookmakers won big because of that call.

Another marquee matchup on MNF, with equally exciting game.

Bills score thanks to a tough run by Lynch, Browns "march" down the field and nail a 56 yard field goal, and now the Bills are starting at their own 40ish with 1:33 to go, and after one single pass the Bills are in field goal range.. Gotta love these kinda games.

My pick of the Bills making the playoffs before the season started looked so well after 6 games.

Then they ran into decent competition. Don't like their chances anymore.

And they miss a 27 yard game winning FG.

Bengals/Eagles end in a tie. Graham misses a field goal at end of OT.

Lions are still winless.

Giants beatdown the Ravens.

Broncos beat the Falcons. That game surprised me. Denver is always hit or miss with me.

And Donovan McNabb didn't know that there was only one overtime period in NFL regular season games. In his postgame conference he talked about it and asked what would happen if a game ended in a tie in the Super Bowl or playoffs. []

The "Wide Right" is nothing new to the Bills either, although this one probably doesn't hurt as much.
