Hudson would have got killed if they stayed with the syle of offense they displayed in the first hafl.. I take my hat off to the hudson O coordinator for switching up his offense and running the spread. It made an incrediible difference in the second half and created mismatches.. If I was a middle border opponent of somerset I would take notice of thier innability to stop the pass and that they are geared to stop the run. on Defense.. on offense it seems if you stop Jake asp then you have a good chance... Make them throw they do not do it well thus far.

Sounds like the pass defense wasn't there from what people have been saying. It's understandable enough. In the MBC it wouldn't work out as well to put as much emphasis on pass defense as run defense considering that traditionally you have to stop the run before the pass. Usually the Somerset coaches do a great job of preparing the team for what they will see from their opponent...not sure if Hudson had run a spread in the past but it's possible that Somerset didn't practice against it during the week if it wasn't on the game tapes. It's also entirely possible they did and just didn't defend it well...who knows. I thought Hudson was an option team [&:]. Clearly they found something that worked. Sounds like Hudson's QB was a stud and their line was pretty big as well.

Either way you slice it Somerset stuck with a very athletic team and was blowing them away at one point. There are just certain aspects that probably need improvement as is expected after week 1.

Well said! Somerset played great football against better athletes (as a whole) They were outsized and outmanned Somerset look good. I really think that somerset has a nice group of ball players.,.. they just need to stay healthy. I didn;t see much depth.

Somerset lacks depth every year.

The only place the Spartans have had depth that the rest of the MBC schools lack is their depth in rounds of playoffs games the past 4 seasons. Looks like that may change this year too!!

I wouldn't be so quick to judge that one based on one game...

WOW... NR beat RF? RF must really be on a down year? I saw the 1st half and left the game at the half to go watch the somerset game because NR vs. RF was jsut boring.

Now somerset vs. Hudson was a great game! I Got there for the start of the 2nd half and besides Asp somerset had nothing else! Kawlaski (spelling??) didnt do anything left the game injured or somethign like 4 different times in the 4th... and Somerset's D was just non exsistant Hudson threw and ran all over them! Not very convincing....??

Hey Ellsworth boy, you obviously didn't appreciate the Tiger defense making play after play vs. an RF team that has really good speed and athleticism. Too bad you didn't stay and watch us celebrate on RF's home field. BTW, Kowalski scored a couple times and had over a hundred yards rushing...so saying he didn't do much isn't quite accurate. And also, anyone that proclaims in their name that they are a 'stud' probably needs their bubble burst.

I think the only score that mbcstud cares about is the 36-6 one he helped lay on SCC on Thursdya night.

Hey guys i am sorry about the OHS score thing when i looked that night the score was posted on this site as 24-0 so i just thought that was it. I didnt say the NR D wasent good i just said that it wasent an interesting game, 7-7 at the half isnt exactly fun to watch! ya know... I am glad to see NR win it is good for the MBC!

As for the Evan thing all i saw was the 2nd half so i didnt see the fumble or much rushing yards, just a few decent kick returns and cramps the rest of the night. I woudlnt really say Hudson's D is that great either they didnt stop Somerset more than 3 or 4 times the whole game? It was a fun game to watch thought a shoot out with very little D as far as the 2nd half fthat i saw! All i did was talk about the half i saw and if someone could get his 2nd half stats i bet they would be far from impressive( i know he was cramping and i know how hard it is to play with that) but i just talked about what i saw...
