I'm all for making smart financial decisions, but when you are one of the top 7 teams under the cap and you haven't even spoken to any of the big name free agents, it sends a really bad message. I understand the philosophy of building through the draft, but it's not the only way to do things. This guy is so tight it's ridiculous. Let's just sit on the money Ted instead of making a splash. And before we say oh he signed Pickett and Woodson, Woodson only came because the Pack said he could play corner and Pickett had a good relationship with the coaching staff. Thompson does a fine job in the draft, but his stance of free agency and improving this squad is getting real tired. I'm glad he wasn't the GM when Reggie White and his posse decided to come to Green Bay. Imagine what would have happened. Exactly what's going to happen under TTT's regime; no Super Bowl titles.

there has to be something else besides money that lures a player to come to a certain place via free agency....i know that money is a key factor but what if 2 teams are offering basically the same amount?....there are other variables and besides, when u sign people that actually want to play because for example, they have a good relationship with the coaches and u let them do something that other teams dont, it helps out chemistry because they r happy

the packer's aren't slow with free agency, they are smart. TT doesn't need to be running around throwing money all over the place for players that are past their prime or are out for a lot of money. TT has done a great job with last year's draft and this year will give more to the pack. the qb is the only thing hinging the pack from going to the sb in two or three years with these drafts like last years.

Tell me specifically who TT should have signed? Just because you have the money doesn't mean you have to spend it. Why throw away money on average people?

Everybody we wanted to pack to sign, got huge inflated contracts. I am not willing to break the bank for a title. And TT isnt either. Remember how the cowboys and 49er's got into money trouble in the 90's. By over spending on guys. And you see it happening again. NC isnt worth 80mil. As well as several others arent worth the money they are getting. Stay within your means, and it will get done.

I for one am glad the he is giving current players extensions rather than overpaying this years free agent crop. Who from this years free agency would the packers need? All the good players out there are at positions the Packers have or wouldn't be much of an upgrade for the $$$. Why spend millions of dollars on guys who don't deserve it.

Everyone last year said how Steve Hutchinson was way overpaid, but no this years guys not even in his league are getting close to that. Some of these teams are mortgaging their futures to pay these guys. I don't like Teddy that much, but I would rather see him not sign anyone for way more than their worth. I'm sure when the right guy comes around Teddy will give him the money ala Aaron Kampman.

would you rather have a GM like Daniel Snyder giving a 7 year, 49 million dollar contract to Derrick Dockery. Or be a SF fan where they give Nate Clements (who's 27, gonna be 28 during next season mind you) an 8 year, 80 million dollar contract? I like what TT has been doin. He tries to find smart buys. Reminds me of what the Minnesota Twins do for baseball. Build through the draft and find smart buys in free agency. Signings like Pickett don't hurt the cap that much but still help the team alot. You think he isn't improving the team? honestly now, they went from 4-12 to 8-8. What do you expect from him? It's a tough situation for him right now since he has Brett Favre for 1 maybe 2 more years, but after he's gone, they'll have to go through a lot of rebuilding. He can't throw big long-term contracts at players cuz it will screw the packers over 3-4-5 years down the road. He's trying to maximize talent around Favre while saving money for when Favre retires.
