Nicholas, you say the WBCA Division reps "called the coaches to volunteer" for the selection committee, or something to that effect.

Was there a predetermined number of coaches who were to serve on each Division's panel?

Are there roughly the same number of teams in each Division? If so, why did Division 1 have 16 coaches serve on their panel, while the other 3 divisions had 9, 7, and 9 coaches on their respective panels?

okay magnum1, you get the award for second biggest belly laugh.

regardless, it is patsies like you who stand around and accept what is dished out - never question, never try to find a better way.

just accept the crap that is dished out to you. that, my friend, is pathetic. if you think it is wrong to publicly debate the merits of a process, well, good luck to you.

you get what you deserve.

i dont think that he has a problem with questioning the way a process works, however, u attack it like it is wrong regardless and it seems like u attack every award type deal that is handed out....besides, this is the first year of a something new for the all state awards, if there are any faults, they will be worked out, it will only get better over time

Nice job, appreciate the effort Nick!!

Maybe next year just name everyone all-state!! []

Hey I have always stood up for what I believe and that will not change.
Who was CHOSEN to be on the selection committee seems a bit biased.

12 of 16 members end up with girls listed from their own team ?

You think that does not lead to questions about the process ?

Let me get to the heart of the issue for me. We all know that in some conf. AC lists coaches can not vote for thier own players..Was this the case here? If so I will simply drop it. If not, that needs to be looked at.

Ps..I like the Div breakdown aspect.

Are you dumb or just lacking in common sense?

1) The coaches who voted had teams make runs deep into the tournament.
2) 12 of 16 of these coaches had girls on the all-state team,

Perhaps they got to vote and were expected to make deep runs into the tournament BECAUSE THEY HAD OUTSTANDING PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

You see a giant conspiracy and I see common sense. If you are going to choose a coach from a good team to pick, they will probably have a player on it because their team is good. Also, if they make it on the all-state team, more than one coach had to vote for them. I would also guess that, like most voting processes, they couldn't vote for their own player.

One final thing, I would venture to guess that a coach who goes deep into the tournament does know more about the players in the state because if the coach is any good they are out scouting possible tournament opponents during the season.

Wow, this is just amazing how mad some people are over the process. I don't think it was ever this much of a debate when the only had 1st, 2nd & 3rd team and then HM. I think the new way is great for the girls. And sure there is always second guessing but I don't really see any better way other than say maybe have 15 or so coaches to make it a little more spread out geographically. But the WBCA will tweek it and are doing a good job so everyone cut them some slack. It's not perfect but it's what we have. And rdrickles was complaining on another post about his gripe with the Janesville Parker girl and must need more space to vent his frustrations. Let it go man.

If childish insults make you feel more like a man be my guess. I do not need your validation nor insults.

What do we have, 500 + teams in the state.
Out of these 500+ teams 16 coaches where chosen as being on the selection commettee. It has been suggested that these coaches where chosen because they were expected to go deep in the playoffs. I really do not by into the rational as to why they were chosen. Becasue they scouted ? All teams scout. Even up in the sticks where it requires hr's of driving.

Of these 16 as pointed out 12 find their players on the team. That does not sound right to me.

I have not heard from an official person that coaches could not vote for thier own player, only assumptions or guesses as the term you used.

As I said prior if that is the case I will drop it, but as of yet I have not heard it to be so.

coaches could vote for their own players... with only two coaches voting per sectional we had coaches that were hesitant to vote if we weren't going to allow them to vote for their own players since in most cases another coach would have voted for them, basically taking away a vote from their player...

also, it is key to note that one vote did not garner a spot on honorable mention... so if a coach did vote for their own player one other coach would have to vote for their player to be named honorable mention in d2-4 and two other coaches would need to vote for their player in d1...

what i want to know is there anything that 'a fan' is not mad about...

There are not 500 teams in each division. There are between 115-125 teams per division. I would argue that if a person had any common sense and made a few calls, they could easily find out about any good players in their division.

Did I say there are 500 teams in each division ? Nope..Read it again.

Phone calls? PHONE CALLS? And I thought the coaches that were going deep in the playoff's scouted most of these girls and teams.

And Nick, As Bobbie Mc Ferrin says," Don't worry, be happy" [:-][:-], I'm too old to get mad about these kind of things anyway. But what would this place be with no debate,,,,INFORMATIONAL..??? We have Courtside for that.

That being said, if you had coaches that where hesitant to vote if they could not vote for a player on his or her own team, this was not thought to be an issue before voting ? As we all know that is not the norm in AC teams to be able to vote for your own player. I'm sure all these girls were deserving, and congrats to them. I only think that the process needs tweeking.

Is this the same process that the boys are or will be using ?

we literally did not get these coaches the voting process and rules until two days before we asked them to vote... which again was attributed to the short time frame in getting all of this stuff done on top of all the stuff we are doing as is for wishoops...

yes.
