I know, I know, it's quite a ways off, but it's never too early to talk about what should be a great tourney. There are some pretty interesting scenarios/storylines that can be talked about:

Will Federer be able to bounce back from a "disappointing" Wimbledon?(even though he made the quarters)
How will the Americans be, especially since the hard court is most American's favorite surface?
Is Nadal simply unbeatable?
Will we see the same Berdych as at Wimby?
Will Soderling continue to roll?

All-in-all this should be a pretty interesting year at the US. I think Isner is going to perform well, his game is best-suited for the hard courts. Roddick should also perform pretty well with the crowd support and playing on a surface in which he usually has success. As for the other top players: Nadal, in my opinion, is back to the form in which he and Fed were regularly dueling for titles, that said, he is definitely A favorite, if not THE favorite. Djokovic: What can be said about him? When he plays well he is VERY tough, but if you can get him down, he has trouble. His fitness isn't great because of his asthma and he's mentally troubled. Fed: Now let's not forgot what Federer has done over the past years. The man is arguably the greatest ever, and has faced plenty of adversity, I think that he'll have great success in NY. Murray: the man is playing great tennis, there's no doubt about that, he just ran into a red-hot Rafa. Murray is simply one of the favorites, enough said. Soderling/Berdych: These two gentlemen are on great runs currently, will it continue or will it end? These 2 should be great to follow throughout. Roddick: I think it'll be interesting to see where Roddick is at come August, he should be in great fitness, per usual, all he needs to do is not catch players when they're playing the game of their career, which has a tendency to happen, haha.

Pretty predictable US Open in my opinion. I think the winner comes from Federer, Nadal, Murray, or Djokovic. Personally, I think we will finally see another Federer vs Nadal final, with Federer taking it.

Well Federer and Nadal look good so far. Djokovic has struggled and now has a difficult matchup with Mardy Fish. Andy Murray bows out early again and it just seems he will never put it together. I'm still thinking this will end in a Federer vs. Nadal final, with Federer taking it in 4.

Federer with a tough 5 set loss today in the semis to Djokovic. He without a doubt had a much tougher draw as some of the higher seeds actually made it through, but thats the way it goes sometimes. Federer just played poorly today and should have won, just struggled serving and had 60+ unforced errors.

Just a devastating loss for Fed, unless he and Annacone can find a way to improve Fed's backhand, and regain the precision on his forehand, his career is certainly in a decline. He is starting to spray his forehand everywhere, which he didn't use to do. I think we will start to see Federer lose earlier at majors, like 3rd and 4th rounds unfortunately. I think he has 2 more majors in him, but the crazy run he has had is now over, where you just can't pencil him to semis or finals.

As far as the final, Nadal looks really good and I'm taking him in straight sets. Barring injuries, Nadal will end passing Federer in alltime majors won, just when we thought we were watching the greatest ever in Federer, it looks like we were watching the 2nd best of his generation if Nadal can surpass or come within 1 or 2 of Federer in majors.
