I'll say this, D1 is as wide-open as its ever been.

You could just make one now and always change it later.

Showing my big 8 bias as think JMM, East, SP, Beloit and Verona are all top 15 (but will take turns beating each other up) but the team that impresses me is DePERE. Don't see them challenged until d1 semi finals.

5 of the TOP 10 are in the Big 8???? Come on!!

Here is my top 10. Just a guess as of now.

1. Madison East
2. Arrowhead
3. Milwaukee Hamilton
4. Madison Memorial
5. Depere
6. Milwaukee Washington
7. Randolph
8. Whitefish Bay Dominican
9. Antigo

Hard to say. But Dominican beat King and Randolph beat Dominican so for those who have King in the top ten. I feel Kelm is having an amazing year so far and Randolph seems to be playing way above what they were expected IMO.

I think there is a little too much Big 8 bias in here. The conference is tough but I'd be interested to see a Sun Prarie (just an example) in the City conference and see how they would do.

WB Dominican should not be in the top 10!!!! They did not look like a top 10 team the past two days. They are very under sized. Talented yes, at certain positions.
The Game doesn't owe you anything, you owe the the game

Probably 3rd or 4th place to be honest. The City is very top-heavy. Hamilton and Washington are the elites; King, Marshall and Vincent are the (beatable) second-tier; and the rest rate from average (South) to not-very-good (Madison, Custer).

SP probably fits into the same category as King, Vincent and Marshall, and could easily play with (and beat) them on any given night.

No not top 10 but top 15 YES. Maybe all 5 top 10 if they did not have to face each other twice with potential for 8 LOSSES. You could be the 5th best team in the state but if your in a conference with the top 4 teams in the state you might lose a lot of games. Either East, JMM. or SP makes it to state in one sectional and feel either Verona or Beloit makes it sectional 6.

Already said I think best team in state is DePere so don't have a strictly sourthern bias but feel if an Antiigo (just an example don't flip out) was in big 8 they might be middle of pack (7th or 8th) at best.

I agree gng. Big 8's top 5 are in the Top 15 in the State. The conference is brutal this year. Anyone in the Top 5 can beat each other, and they will.

Dominican got slaughtered tonight and Verona walked over Bay View. Lowlight was a vicious undercut on a Taylor Peterson dunk. Punk move.

It didn't really seem bad until Peterson ended up on his back...I don't know about the intent, but it was a strange play nonetheless...The Verona faithful were none-too-pleased though...of course they don't seem to be pleased with much of anything regarding the men in stripes...[:-]...They should be happy about their team though, very solid and heady basketball players, especially the starting five.

GNG, if you were in the small Verona parents' section, then you were about 40 feet from me today...[8D]

You event staff at the front table? Yes was there with V p's and yes the group is a bit vocal(surprise). My son (#12) who was close to the play said he did not think was ill intent but looked to me like the kid saw taylor going up for dunk and purposely took his legs out. Probably worst overall game Verona played this year and still won by 16. Nice to see Bre P. (UWGB) and Dionte G. (IOWA STATE) there supporting the Vincent squad. No Buycks or Woods clones coming up on the Bayview squad. Saw a couple of the Minnesota squads got 2 games and think attendence would be helped immensely if their was more of a tourney format (maybe even 2 games in a day). Know it is tough with limited number of games available out of conference but tough to get a gallery to travel 95 miles for one game on a stormy night.

Nah, no event staff for me. Just another face in the crowd. Was really hoping to see Koenig from Aquinas, but that'll have to wait another day.

It doesn't help that the games were on the Tuesday/Wednesday before X-Mas, although last year, when this showcase was held at Milwaukee Lutheran, there was more of a turnout (despite frigid temps and a team from Missouri no showing), I also liked that set-up more with ML's new gym and their old gym both having games going at the same time. The Klotsche is just so distant and packed away within its own building that the atmosphere was lacking, I bet the handful of students still around using the facilities had no idea HS games were being played.

As far as the game goes, I kinda figured this wasn't Verona's best. I was anticipating an easy W for the Wildcats after seeing that BV lost to a very poor Muskego team by 26 in their last game. I really like #34's (Wadzinski) game. Your son and #20 also displayed some real good basketball moxie. Even though Verona struggled at times, in the end, they still pretty much controlled the game. I've seen BV a few times in the last two years, and I really think they need to play their core group of 6-7 guys the majority of the time instead of playing all 18 or however many kids they have suited up for that particular game equally. There's such a marked difference in talent, and there's really no reason for Littleton and especially Turner to ever leave the floor, but I digress.

Thought the Vincent/Minneapolis South game got real sloppy after halftime. Though Minneapolis South was not real good (Riverside handled them fairly easily the night before), Vincent looked very good in the first half. But the second half was just real out-of-control, and Vincent let South get within 5 or 6 late. The freshman Burton had a great dunk in traffic, but otherwise didn't really stand out to me. He's really well put-together though. The big sophomore Nolan looks much improved, and he could prove to be a key to any success they may have, particularly in that sectional.
