How did a discussion on perhaps the most dominant running back in the history of the Middle Border turn into a coffee shop chat amongst two people?

Speaking of which, we should throw out some ideas for most dominant running back, either MBC or area. No badmouthing guys or anything just ideas.

Ross Sweig and Lance Murphy (both juniors) will form one of the most dynamic backfield duos in the area this fall. Ellsworth will be one of the most talented teams in the MBC and should definately improve on their season last year. Otherwise, Jake Asp from Somerset should have an amazing statistical season just like every other Somerset Fullback that passes through the program, and Derek Radle from Durand should have another solid season. As far as through the air, I expect Ellsworth (if Travis London is eligible at QB) and New Richmond to have the best passing attacks.

Dont forget evan from somerset. I think he might be faster then tom.

How could we forget Evan from Somerset? People like you have been reminding us all about him and Jake Asp since last fall and make me want to headbutt a brick wall! I have to be honest...I take a lot of pride in being from Somerset and being a senior on the title team in '02. But ever since this football tradition has started, the kids from Somerset that come on here to talk them up seem to get dumber and dumber and more and more cocky. I would rather eat my own skin than read another post about Evan Kowalski or Jake Asp EVERY SINGLE TIME I COME ON HERE!

You are comparing a junior in high school to a proven DIVISION 1 ATHLETE! Tom holds nearly every rushing record that Somerset has ever had. If they met in a hole, Kowalski's helmet would explode. He might as well be half Tom's size. When Evan Kowalski is fast enough to run for the most yards in all divisions in the state of Wisconsin either this season or next season like Tom did, I'll shut my mouth and streak from the quads to the gymnasium. Until then, get off his bean bag until he earns the respect of someone like Tom. From what I've heard, their character and humility on and off the field aren't really comparable.

Crevis - Well said. Evan and Tom aren't comparable, and there would be body parts flying if Tom ever got a good peice of Evan.

Hopefully, Evan's buddies and bro's will quit putting his name on this board so he can concentrate on his responsibilities to his team instead of reading his name on this gossip column. He's got plenty of ability to do all the talking in the world.....WITH HIS PLAY!!!! Same goes with Asp, and many others in the conference.

People on this board have made Somerset kids look sound arrogant. Make's me sad.[8|]

That is it exactly, it does not seem to be the players at all. It seems to be the buddies or classmates that I'd guess are not even in football that post this crap.

Coach Larson wouldn't allow for the players to act this way. Big egos and cockiness among players disassembles team unity and chemistry and also has an effect on sportsmanship. It completely goes against his coaching philosophy and the guidelines and expectations he has for his players. It is the kids in the school and I know first hand because I've been in the stands for a few games over the last 3 years. I've heard the things the people say and attitudes just keep getting worse and worse. A girl once told one of my old teammates that he was jealous of the '03 team because we didn't win conference in '02 and they did in '03. Things like that are just frustrating...I guess a gold ball doesn't hold as much weight as a conference championship to some people.

It's nice to hear that Tom is giving 110% and making the most of this opportunity. I know Durand has had a handful of running backs come up the past couple years with the talent to play at the college level but they either didn't pursue the opportunity or they decided that it wasn't for them after they got into it. Having followed Tom's high school career & learning of what he had to overcome in order to accomplish what he did, and seeing how much effort he has put into this opportunity at Minnesota speaks volumes of the kid's character.

great post... you can really tell the age of the poster when they start preaching about how good this team is or this player is . ...and talk trash... I am very proud of somerset even though they beat my team every year I have moved to this area.. I think this is a premier conference in wisconsin and I root for the mbc against all opponents... It goes to show how good the mbc is with all the division 1 recruits. I love watching the small teams take on teams like somerst vs Hudson and Ellsworth and New richmond vs River falls.... we should all be proud of are conference and stop bickering on who is the best .... Somerset is the champ until further notice.... good luck to all the teams the next two weeks I hope we all go undefeated in the pre-season... good luck mbc!!!!
