I would like to know why a previous thread was deleted.

While it was about a controversial subject there was no name-calling, insults or derogetory statements.

Strong opinions on both sides of the subject were made but I truly would like to know what it was that caused the thread to be deleted.

There was nothing (from my perspective) that wasn't factual.

Are we now restricting free speech and opinion because it is controversial?

Lets be accurate, I have been active on both the Chapman and the Lancaster thread so I know of what I speak. I fail to see rules broken on the CC thread.
The Lancaster thread has been tense but I fail to see rules broken on that thread either. I have seen not only Mod's but the sites Adm. closely watching each.

I only saw your thread once before it was deleted and in calling out a coach as you did for obviously something that is subjective. Bottom line it is HIS CALL, and to question it in the negitive fashion as you did ( Rule 1 ) got it rightfully deleted in my opinion.

Yesterday morning it crossed the line from a controversial subject to extremely derogetory statements. I drew their attention to it, and I think they wisely wiped it out.

Yes, you have 1st amendment rights to speak your mind. However, when you join a board such as this, you give you a little bit of your rights when you agree to follow their rules. If you value 100% freedom, then you'll have to find another board or create your own.

There's plenty of angry back-and-forth about things around here. When it goes beyond the game to personal attacks, it has no place.

Extremely derogetory statements such as ....?

Personal attacks ... so questioning a coaching decision is a personal attack? Or questioning whether favoritisim is a factor in coaching decisions is a personal attack?

I understand there are certain "rights" and rules that follow being on a board such as this but ... if we're going to wince at controversial subjects just because they are unpleasant than that too is wrong.

I truly believe in the bottom of my heart that the coaching decisions by the Franklin coaches reeked of favortisim and bias. Those decisions darn near cost Franklin a state championship, I substantiated my position as best I could. I engage in free discussions with other contrary positions with no name calling yet ... you claim extremely derogatory statements.

I would like to know EXACTLY what is perceived as derogetory.

There is a thread on the basketball board talking specifically about Charlie Chapman with several comments that are worse than anything that was in this thread. There is a thread going on right now on the football board about Lancaster's disrespect. Another about all-state teams both of which include name calling yet those are not called out.

It is too inconsistent and I take exception at this being singled out!

Yes it was wrong that your post was deleted, but so have others been and u can do nothing about it. The moderator of this board has the right to do whatever he wants unless he's taking government money in which case any kind of discrimination is disallowed. Justice Scalia said the following " The majority is what our country was built on , never anywhere in our laws does it say the minority rules, the majority can either be very good or very bad for the country and it's up to the people to decide and fix as needed. "

So I guess the mods deleted a few threads at once. I was referring to the Greendale-Waupaca thread as the one that had way crossed the line. I don't know what other ones disappeared...

And seriously...trying to quote Scalia is to take it way out of context. This isn't public domain. It's a business run by private business. They can control whatever they want, just like any business can fire an employee for acting in ways that are not what the company wants.

The Greendale-Waupaca thread didnt need to be deleted either. We were working out our differences.

I think a thread where every other word is starred out and there are threats of physical violence is a bit more than working out your differences.

It's real easy.

Just follow the sites rules.

They can be found on the front page.
