So all of Tigers sponsors are slowly either dropping him or greatly reducing his role in their companies...the latests to do so was [link=http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=4739219]Accenture[/link]...I guess I have a question for everyone out here not so much about Golf but in general...

Do you think these companies dropping Tiger...even after this whole scandal...will do them any good? I understand what he did wasn't "right" and it isn't something you would want to represent your product...but this is TIGER WOODS...no single individual means more to their sport or business for that matter...think about Kobe Bryant's situation...people dropped him from sponsorships but now he probably has more sponsors then he had before the whole Colorado scandal...I just personally think that these sponsors will not lose sales over the long run with keeping Tiger on board...I actually think that in 2-3 years these companies will be less "relevant" without Tiger...right now I understand saving face...but is it the right decisions for these companies?

I don't think you will see a company like Nike drop Tiger...because this is more of a special case then if it was someone else...IDK how much Accenture benefits or did from Tiger but I know that without Tiger Woods I would have never even heard of that company...

so what are your thoughts?

I would say with most of those how many people did Tiger really bring into their product? It's not has if people were drinking Gatorade of over Powerade because of him, or using AT&T over another phone company.

I think the only one it will effect is EA, because you see a lot of Tiger Woods games go out each year that people wouldn't buy without his name on it. Others I don't think it matters either way.
If you were right, I'd agree with you

I'd disagree with this statement. It may not be blatant but really people do associate a product with their celebrity faces. . . Nike Golf has really skyrocketed by bringing in Tiger.
IG 1/21/08 Miss you mom

Being in sales is tough. Just when you think your day of rejections is over you end up going home to your wife for a couple more rounds.

I think that one is different than the others because it has to do with the sport he actually plays and what he actually uses to compete.

interesting take on it Ping...I actually like Gatorade Tiger and I heard they were discontinuing it (before this all came out supposedly) which kind of made me sad...I used to be one of those guys who wasn't going to like Tiger just to be different but its impossible to not be sucked into his amazing skills at his sport and how hes so much better then others...right behind Jordan Tiger is the next most popular Nike sponsor...so IDK what to think about companies and them keeping him on or off...I mean Gillette has enough sponsors with Jeter and Federer that it probably doesn't "need" Tiger...but a sports brand like Nike I think will not drop him just because he directly affects their brand so much...

aaaaaaaaand [link=http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=4740543]more[/link]...I think this is a great example of the post...Tag Heuer said they were gonna stick with him...now they aren't...now they are reassessing it...
