Location: Tropicana Field

After a hard fought Game 6 in which the Phillies were able to win on a Geoff Jenkins Grand Slam in the Top of the 9th to even the series up at 3-3 the series headed for a grand finale, a Game 7. Both starting pitchers faired alright, but neither team would budge and the score is tied 3-3 and the bases are empty in the Bottom of the 9th. The Phillies have made the move to go to their stud closer, Brad Lidge, who has been flawless on the season. In an instance, Joe Maddon has a gut feeling, he knows what he must do. He looks over to his bench and nods. The sweet sounds of Mercy Me's "I Can Only Imagine" blast over the Tropicana Field speakers and the fans erupt and rise to their feet. Joe Maddon has called for his offensive juggernaught, Gabriel Gross. Lidge gets ahead in the count on a first pitch strike. Lidge proceeds to throw three straight balls, making the count 3-1. Instead of acknowledging the God-like status of Gabriel Gross by swallowing his pride and putting Gross on base, Lidge decides he wants to flirt with death. Carlos Ruiz drops 1 finger in front of his crotch and Lidge nods. He fires a fastball right down the heart of the plate. Gabriel swings and sends a towering, majestic fly ball deep into the right field bleachers and the Rays win the World Series.

I hope not.

I might become physically ill if the Devil Rays (why drop the Devil? Blah!) win the Series before the Brewers...[:'(] - Follow me. Because we all need a bit of sports snark in our lives.
