The Big Ten took a disappointing nose dive this past week. Lost a lot of games it seems like the teams should have won. They're not living up to the preseason hype already.

Yeah, a few disappointing losses for a few teams in the Big Ten.

Northwestern beat Notre Dame and Iowa State back-to-back. I don't think either of those teams will compete for a conference title or anything, but certainly some talent remains on both squads.

Unfortunately, three other preseason Top-25 squads from the Big Ten are currently sporting two game losing skids. After beating Butler, Minnesota has started off incredibly slow against A&M and Portland, which have led to losses. Neither of those teams are slouches, but you can't expect to be a consistent winner if you come out the gates that slow each game.
What I have seen with Illinois (only have watched them twice this season) is that they have not identified that go-to scorer yet. I haven't seen a guy on that roster really capable of taking over when needed. Wisconsin has a guy like that in Trevon Hughes. MSU has Kalin Lucas, tOSU has Evan Turner, PSU has Talor Battle, etc, etc, etc.
Michigan just has had a world of trouble shooting beyond the arc and keeping opposing players out of the lane. Against Marquette, they let the Golden Eagles into the lane at will, leading to easy buckets.

I think it's clear right now that Purdue and Michigan State are in front of the pack. I'm not sure how much I like tOSU yet, but they are certainly deserving of a Top-25 spot based on their body of work thus far along with what they brought back from last year's squad that made the Tournament. I would put them, UW, and NW behind Purdue and Michigan State... thus far.

Looking back at the earlier posts pre-challenge, some of the comments talking up the ACC seem pretty comical.

Well, have you seen the 10 previous years? I think that's part of the reason so many people took the ACC. Hell, I personally think the Big Ten is a better conference, but it's hard for me to look at it that way when the challenge comes around because it's been domination since '99 or whenever it started.
