Great game Div 3 GET High vs D4 Blair-Taylor. GET has a great chemistry and you can tell that the sophmores Wagner, Scherr and company have playe together for a long while and are very quick, and they cameout scoring big right away to have at one time I believe a 16 pt lead, but BT wouldn't go away cutting that lead to 4 pts with 2 minutes left in the 4th to give GET a scare, and it was like a tournament atmosphere in the 4th qtr BT's Pooler had 26 pts. It was a fun game with GET pulling away with free throws in the last minute but all in all a good close game for both teams. If you want to see a pregame lights out cermony to introduce the home team, this is the longest regular season one with music and lights rotating I have ever seen come to a GET Home Game, seems a little too much....but what a great game last night hats off to BT for their effort and congratulations to GET for the win they will be a force to reckon with in D3.

Pulaski 55
N.E.W. Lutheran 53
Final

Pretty intense non-conference match-up between last year's D2 champion and last year's D5 runner up, as I believe the game was played within 5 points after midway through the 1st. N.E.W. Lutheran got into foul trouble early, but their bench was able to keep them in it, only down 22-19 at half. However as the game went on, Pulaski was just the more experienced team at using a short bench to finish the second half of a game of basketball. N.E.W. had two starters foul out in the final minutes, but in spite of a few unfortunate occurrences still had a chance to tie the game on the final possession.

For Pulaski, it was completely the Luke VanLanen show, who finished with 37 points. Some might say N.E.W. didn't do a good enough job keying in on him, but I felt Pulaski did a good job at being subtly creative in getting him the ball in good situations/positions. There really were no other Red Raider players who even showed signs of being able to create offense for themselves, aside from making 3 or 4 three pointers, and the "creativity" to switch to a non-fouled player to shoot FTs (but that was more just a matter of taking advantage of the refs, haha [] ).

Having seen N.E.W.'s first three games of the season, this team has a very different make-up compared to teams from the past four years, and within that it may be safe to say this is the best starting five the Blazers have had over that time. Post Nathan Toenjes (great presence and touch in the paint) and wing guard Dakota Zinser (extremely athletic and versatile) are both POY caliber players, with point guard Kristian Zimmerman (athletic guard with good size), guard Sam Brock, and forward Noah Gosse all capable of creating their own offense. However, while N.E.W. has been blessed with great depth in the past, this year?s bench is a work in progress. In an overall historically mediocre Packerland N.E.W.?s starters should be good enough the keep the Blazers at the top, however, the development of the bench will ultimately dictate the caliber of this team. Despite the outcome, tonight?s game against Pulaski was needed experience for both players and coaches in playing a tight game with an inexperienced bench.

Both teams played a tough, defensive game and neither side broke double digits in points scored in any of the four quarters.
