[hr] Monticello has been nominated for the January Boys team of the month after going 8-0 by securing a road win at Barneveld and beating Division 2 Dodgeville at home. Everyone should go to the following link and vote for them: [link=http://www.wissports.net/sports/hoopsb/blog/message.aspx?f=91&id=1120377]http://www.wissports.net/sports/hoopsb/blog/message.aspx?f=91&id=1120377[/link]

This is a great opportunity to show that the SRE has a lot of talent from top to bottom!

Monticello is following up last year's conference championship season with just as much talent this year. Tyler Ritschard is as good of a point guard as you will find in the area, regardless of division. Jacob Marty and Tyler Meier are also good players. This team has a chance to get to state.

ok you may say monticello may not even be a favorite to get out of their regional but that means nothing last year they were picked to lose in the second round. that team has gotting no respect which they probaly should get. as my point of view this team can really make a playoff push come post season. they play extremely well when they competition is high for example wisconsin heights who has lost twice this year and playing very well. Monticello wont just lay down if anything people should be scared about matching up with that team and how versital they are... that team will be a scare team to see on the other side of the court come playoff time and you can count on that.

First off, Lil Wayne raps with better grammar than you type with. Second, How is Monticello not getting respect? They have like 99 percent of the vote for the Barneveld game Thursday, which i believe they should be favored in as well. Realistically they are not the favorite in there regional, granted being the favorite means about as much as Steak to vegetarians, but your coming at Crackerjack all wrong. Monticello gets respect.

Don't get ahead of yourself. If either Barneveld or Monticello gets to state this year I will be surprised. Not because neither team isn't good enough to compete at that level, but because of the sectional they are in. Monticello isn't even the favorite to get out of their regional...

Ok you say i dont pay attention to any other conference the six rivers i have been watching for the R.L. team all year i know what kind of team they are and yes they have played well but also at times not played the best either im actully going to be watch a few of their game films soon too take a closer look at them. I have total respect for them and know that they can be a big dark horse but it is like that your not even giving monticello a shot i watch monticello a ton and when they play like they can they could compete with anyone.

Please point me to the place where I say this...I don't think you will see it cause I didn't say that. My initial response was to the poster who said statebound... I really enjoy the way that Monticello plays basketball-fast paced, pressure defense, drive and shoot-especially with how undersized they are. I hope that Monticello and Barneveld can meet up for a 3rd time in sectionals, but I honestly don't think both teams will make it that far. I hope that one of the teams will make it that far.

As far as Racine Lutheran, they gave one of the best teams in D1, Racine Park, a tremendous game and lost 51-47 earlier in the seaon. They also beat Racine St. Cats and just recently The Prairie School. If you want to know how athletic Park is just check out the video that's uploaded on wishoops. I think that Lutheran is the real deal and I have honestly no idea where you get that they aren't playing well or haven't played well.

Monticello is actually a team that I am concerned about now playing their best basketball right now and with the injury to Marty. I hope they can get him back for the playoffs because that would be a huge blow if he is not in the lineup.

Btw, you seem to be an insider with Monticello and you are getting game tapes. Are you affiliated with the program? Scouting for them or something along those lines?

Marty was back at practice tonight. Doesn't seem to be any major damagae to the knee. He will probably have pain the rest of the season, but he is tough and has played through knee pain/problems most of his HS career. It just sucks that even if Marty plays, you won't get Monticello's best effort tomorrow night because he won't be 100%. Even without him Monticello can get it done if they are hitting the outside shots, but this game is going to be much more difficult than if Marty is 100%. (Monticello by 3 if they make at least four 3's)

Bottom line is: this sectional is RIDICULOUS. You have Randolph, Racine Lutheran, Monticello Benton & Barneveld all ranked in the top 12 in one sectional. Anyone of these teams could make state, but I hope for Monticello/Barneveld's sake someone else takes out Randolph before they would see them.

Buddy, you can only play the no respect card so many times, and I like to see the school pride that you have, but neither Barneveld nor Monticello are the favorite to get out of their regional at this point! If you paid attention to more than just the Six Rivers you would know this. Racine Lutheran could possibly be the best team in D4 besides Randolph and you can't sleep on BCC. Both of those teams play in a bigger, better conference. I just hope that Monticello can win the seeding meeting vote and get the 1 seed so that BCC and Racine Lutheran have to play each other in the 2nd round of regionals. Then they only have to beat one of those teams. At least if Barneveld loses in regionals, it will be to a public school...

Are you expecting that Catholic Central would get the #3 seed? Because i believe that Williams Bay will probably get the three seed. And regardless of who Catholic Central plays in regular season, that doesn't mean that they are good. I'm not saying they are a bad team, because they are still pretty good. But, they are not the Catholic Central teams we all have seen in the past. I think this will be the year someone knocks them out in the first round.

Yeah I looked at that regional a little closer since the last time (probably about a month ago)...and I agree that I don't think they will get the 3 seed nor are they the same BCC teams of the past few years, but regardless, they are a team I would not want to play. Despite their record, they have been competitive against the likes of Dominican, St. Cats, Racine Lutheran, and The Prairie School among others.

Slaintrain come on where does anyone say they have no shot. honestly though, that part of the bracket is loaded and whoever comes from it is the state champ, barneveld or monti will have to play there A++++ game to get out of that alive. i was just going through tape from last years game while putting together something for Logan and Monti really worked the dribble drive and kick really well, while Barneveld had success going inside to Logan where Monti has trouble matching up with him. I expect more of the same tomorrow, if Barneveld keeps feeding it inside, i think thats there best chance. Monticello will hit threes in there own gym, Barneveld needs to keep pressure on and get hands in faces of shooters, which they generally do a decent job of. the homer in me still says Barneveld wins, and then we grace ourselves with Papa Burgers from A&W, either way, everyone wins.
