Very sad, my heart goes out to his family and friends. He fought one hell of a battle though.

RIP to Mr Scott but he was one of the biggest reasons I stopped watching / listening to the 4 letter .

I actually liked Scott, but his over the top antics (along with the rest of the ESPN personnel) pushed me away
from ESPN also. I found him to be quite clever, but it did get old.
Always sad when you hear of a youngster going way before his time.

Scott was the original over the top anchor. He knew the line between acting crazy and when to be serious. Pretty much every sportscaster at ESPN after him was clearly influenced by his style and charisma.

Add me to the "didn't like Stuart Scott" list. I think safetysqueeze summed up my thoughts exactly - sad that he died at 49, especially when this was his 3rd round with cancer - but his style influenced sports broadcasting across the networks, and not for the better IMO.

Also agreed with dfnewberry, I quit watching the network because of Scott. People who knew him and eulogized him have all kinds of great things to say, and I don't doubt that he was a genuinely nice person and all that - but I still couldn't stand listening to him call highlights or opine on anything sports-related. When the network put him into practically everything it broadcast, and everyone put him up as the expert on whatever was being discussed, it only got that much worse.
I'm not saying some things the WIAA does are wrong, ... I'm just saying, "I find it weird."
