Interesting to see, that the Fox River Valley American Legion League IS home to all three State Legion Champions (Class A-Denmark, AA-Kimberly, and AAA-Oshkosh.) Combined with Appleton Legion's 17-Under team winning the Junior Legion State title, it gives the FRV four of five championships this season. (I'm not sure what/who the fifth title is or went to.) They are also home to one of the three Runner-Ups (Appleton Post 38-AAA .)

The league has 34 teams, nearly 25% of the total 128 teams in the Regional Tournaments, and 8 of the 24 teams that made the State Tournaments.

I may get crucified by some for saying this, but I think the results show that SOME of the Legion programs in the Fox Valley are home to pretty good baseball. It will be interesting to see how our Wisconsin teams do against other Midwest teams as they advance to National Regional competition.

during the regular season yes... but take EC and LAx's legion teams. both had a D1 college caliber pitcher, and do u remember, or even know what happend to both of them. they LOST their opening game at state and neither team made it past the 3rd game.

When our team (Manawa) won the Division A state tourney and were runners up at Nationals in 2003, we had two very effective pitchers who had one year of college under their belt, plus two more guys who had graduated already. They definitely got better after that one year of college and I doubt highly we would have won state without them, but if they meet the age requirements I don't know how much it stretches a rule.

Now all Brian Gerl does is drink a pitcher in the dugout and then go out and pitch 3 scoreless innings for the Oshkosh Giants.
