Doesn't sound good for Jim Sorgi!

First the bad news: A team that entered the game with 16 players sidelined with injuries saw its medical woes increase. Sorgi was KO'd after only three plays with an apparent injury to his right (throwing) shoulder. Also forced from the game were running back James Mungro (knee) and defensive end Johnathan Goddard (foot).

Sorgi, who was roughed up in the preseason opener at St. Louis behind an ineffective backup offensive line, was knocked down on his first pass attempt and knocked from the game on his second. Seattle linebacker Julian Peterson came in unscathed from the left side of Sorgi's protection and slammed him to the ground.

Sorgi's pass fluttered softly into the flats, where Seahawks safety Michael Green intercepted and returned it 18 yards for a touchdown and a 17-7 Seattle lead.Manning said he was "concerned'' about Sorgi's injury, although Colts officials wouldn't specify which shoulder was hurt.

"He had that look on his face like he was in a lot of pain,'' Manning said. "Anytime you're talking about a quarterback's arm or shoulder or whatever it was, you're very concerned about it.''

Sorgi informed coach Tony Dungy that a magnetic resonance imaging test on his right shoulder, which also was injured against the Seahawks, revealed no structural damage. Sorgi, who watched practice with his right arm in a sling, was not present during the team's open locker room period Tuesday.

"He was real pleased,'' Dungy said. "It's still day-to-day, but we didn't get a negative report, so that was good.''

Dungy does not anticipate signing another quarterback while Sorgi mends.

It remains to be seen if Sorgi will be ready for the Colts' Sept. 10 regular-season opener against the New York Giants
