Peralta, Woodruff & Burnes need to pull up their boot-straps.

Otherwise, this could be a Cardinal sweep ...

Jeffress got beat up pretty good in his 4 and 1/3 innings at AAA.  9 hits, 7 earned runs, 3 HR's and 5 K's.  I'll  be the first to say it ... I have a concern Jeffress' career may be in jeopardy ...

Well, that's one who didn't as the young arms continue to...well...suck. Once again the offense (read: Christian Yelich) though were able to overcome Peralta's 3 1/3 IP of shaky pitching. Yelich smacked three HRs and drove in seven runs as the Brewers were able to take a 10-7 series opening victory.

The pitching of this team is an early concern.  Outside of Hader and Davies (can't believe I just said that), I am not sure there is anyone that is worthy of trust.

His velocity isn't all the way back yet. It was in the 91-92 range, but that's a big improvement from Spring Training when he was a 85-86.

Man, this team can hit.

I don't read a ton into the pitching line on him in AAA. He's in the minors to work on things and often pitchers are given explicit instructions on what to throw and how many of them.  They don't want to see his CB they want to know where his velocity sits after throwing multiple FB and then they want to see him do it 2 days in a row.

Brandon Woodruff was solid for five innings (as he continues to show improvement) before running into some trouble in the sixth, but by that point Milwaukee had amassed an 8-0 lead on the backs of a couple more multi-run HRs from Grandal and Yelich and a two-run double from the MLB's most dangerous hitter in Woodruff 😎 and would go on to win, 8-4.

Burnes with another terrible outing and has to be ticketed for San Antonio to try and get straight. 11 HRs in four appearances is horrific. Wasn't ready for prime time.

Aaron Wilkerson may have a case to get a look in the rotation after providing four pretty good innings in relief. Also as the #9 hitter as he went deep for a two-run HR to provide most of the Brewers offense. We also saw the season debut of Jeremy Jeffress who registered a strikeout of the only batter he faced (first out of a strike 'em out-throw 'em out double play).

Still, it's a series win over the Cardinals. Those are always nice.
