I am officially concerned about Yelich.  The strikeouts last night were on pitches that he has hammered in the past.  Curveballs hanging in the zone and he watches them go by.  I heard someone suggest this morning on sports radio that it almost appears he is making an effort to not pull the ball and maybe this is a result of the injury from last season.  I had not thought about that, but maybe.

The offense is bad right now.  I think I heard that in Monday's loss, only 3 balls had exit velocities of 95 or more.  If true, no one is making solid contact.  Last night's lineup started with 3 guys hitting less than .100.  The Cubs appear as if they are going to run away with the division and now the goal for the Brewers has to be to get to 30 wins somehow.  If they can get to .500 and with the expanded playoffs, that probably gets them in, but right now, that seems like an uphill task.

Mark DeRosa did a really nice breakdown on Yelich this morning...  If you get a chance, take a look.  The gist of it was, he's getting beat on fastballs right now, which is causing him to "cheat" and then not be able to "stay back' on the off-speed pitches.

As far as the Cubs, I'm not so sure about that...  Over half of their wins are against the Pirates and Royals, two teams that were expected to be pretty bad!  Let's see how they do once the schedule gets a little tougher.  If things don't improve in their bullpen, they'll struggle to beat the better teams consistently in my opinion.

The Brewers lineup for tonight's game would be embarrassing for a Spring Training game, let alone a regular season game.

Healy 1B
Hiura  DH
Garcia. CF
Gyorko. 3B
Gamel. RF
Pina. C
Mathias. LF
Arcia. SS
Sogard. 2B

After tonight's game, the roster will go down to 28 players.  The roster currently sits at 14 position players and 16 pitchers.

I can see the annoyance with that, however good things at least have a chance to happen when you make contact compared to swinging and missing...

You see why I'm annoyed!

Who would you guess are the two Brewers that move from the 30 man roster to the 5-man "taxi squad" before tomorrow's game?

I'd say Grimm and Mathias, but that might just be since I'd like to see Feyeresien stay on the active roster.

I think they need all the pitchers on the current roster so I would get rid of two position players.  The two right now would be Mark Mathias and Logan Morrison.  Morrison is an  identical player to Smoak and once Braun comes back he is even more expendable.

Well we were both wrong....  Unfortunately Feyereisen was one of the players sent to Appleton, along with Healy, as part of the roster cuts this morning as the Brewers got down to the required 28 man roster.
