Game 1: Shaun Anderson (3-2, 4.23) vs. TBD
Game 2: Madison Bumgarner (5-7, 4.03) vs. TBD
Game 3: Tyler Beede (2-3, 5.64) vs. TBD

The "second half" begins with Thomas B. Dangerfield attempting to win on back-to-back-to-back days for the Brewers. Not sure he's got it in him.

Not sure why the Brewers are still listing the starters as TBD.  I would think it would line up with Woodruff, Davies, and then toss it up with Chacin, Anderson, or Houser.

The Brewers are going this way coming out of the break:
Friday: Anderson
Saturday: Davies
Sunday: Chacin
Monday: Houser
Tuesday: Woodruff

Over their last 81 games, the Brewers are 39-42.  Last year at the All Star break they had a record of 55-43 (.561).  This year it's 47-44 (.516).  To get 90 wins, the number it will take to make the post season in my opinion, they need to go 43-28 (.606).  It really hurt going 7-10 before the All Star break against teams that all had losing records.

For all the talk that the Giants are going to trade Bumgarner and everyone in the bullpen in three weeks, they are only 5.5 games out of the second wild card spot.  They need one hot week and then they won't be trading anyone.

As in Wild Card, or win the division? Because the latter almost seems destined for less than 90 at the moment.

Since the leagues went to two wild card teams in 2012, the lowest total for a wild card team was 87 wins.   In that same time frame, no National League team has won their division with less than 90 wins.   I'm just using past history as a guide which says someone will get hot and reach the 90 win plateau.  There are going to be a lot of bad teams once the trading deadline passes which will help inflate win totals.

New half. Same ol' bullpen garbage. Eight runs in five innings with four HRs conceded as the Brewers lose in 10 innings, 10-7.

Expect to see that quote an awful lot this second half. How Stearns isn't getting lambasted in the media for his poor handling of the pitching staff this off-season is beyond me.

That game was the definition of the phrase "pulling defeat from the jaws of victory".   They need to settle on someone who can pitch the 8th inning and hand the ball over to Hader to finish the game in the 9th.  Now he probably isn't available for the next two games.  He needs to be able available to pitch back to back games.  Hader can't be the set up guy and the closer at the same time.

Look at the Giants bullpen last night.  Dyson, Watson, and Smith.  All of those guys are rumored to be on the market at the trade deadline.  Think any of them would help??  Yes, we got to Smith for 1 in the ninth, but he darn near worked out of a leadoff triple.  I agree with Hader and the 2 inning appearances.  My guess is he won't be available today or tomorrow and with the bullpen continuing to be in disarray - not sure who would close out a close game.

Today, get to see Mad Bum up close and whether he is worth going to get by the deadline.

Maurico Dubon gets sent back to San Antonio and taking his spot on the roster is Jay Jackson.  I would have like to have seen Dubon get a little time a short to see if he could be an improvement over Arcia.  I also prefer the 5 man bench over the 8 man bullpen.  I also thought I heard BA say that Braun wouldn't be with the team on Monday so then it will be a three man bench.

I just wonder sometimes what the thinking is.  Here is how it will play out.  Jackson will see action tonight or tomorrow - give up a couple of runs - probably a home run - and look like the rest of the bullpen.  Then - he will be DFA on Monday and if Braun is un-available, someone from San Antonio will be back - Travis Shaw??

I am tired of the recycle of guys.  I am guessing we will see Alex Wilson back before long.  I am ok with figuring out if these guys can be a part of the roster, but they have already kind of proven they can't.

And I do like Saladino, but, he hasn't been able to do anything with the bat, so his time is running out.

Between leaving the pitching staff way too thin (and not addressing still) and leaving Huira wasting in the minors while Perez and Shaw did nothing for so long, hard to tell what the Wonder Boy did the poorest job at.

Well, it's a win, but why do they make this so difficult?

Good start from Davies, but Claudio immediately surrendered the lead. A three-run eighth put the Brewers up 4-2, but with Jeffress on for the ninth (remember Hader's usage yesterday...*eyeroll*), the Giants were able to tie with the help of an absolute bungle in CF by Cain allowing the tying run to score. JJ has been lousy in leverage situations all year, but probably deserved a little better fate tonight.

Braun reached on error to start the ninth, but stood silently at first as Moustakas and Aguilar K'd. Hiura drew a walk, and Ben Gamel (Stearns with a good pickup here) then see a 2-2 pitch into deep right for a walk-off double.

Counsell and him pushed so many right buttons last season that they thought they were untouchable. Now that those buttons are getting stuck more often than not, neither has figured out much in the way of adjustments, and in some cases, they left themselves with no Plan B (i.e. riding the bullpen is great, until the bullpen can't get anybody out meaning those "short starts by design" are no longer workable).
