Though I'd honestly be fine with him going down with the ship too.

As would I....  I would love to see him replaced before the 2021 season rolls around, but I don't see it happening.

Both games of Sunday's scheduled DH between the Cardinals and Brewers have been postponed....

Is Fay Vincent the last pro sports commissioner to be fired (technically forced out after no confidence vote)?

With Lorenzo Cain opting out of this season, the Brewers do not have to pay him his 5.5 million salary for this year.  Considering that he has made over 50 million in his career so far and is still owed 33 million for the following two years, it isn't that hard of a decision for him knowing he has a job to come back to next year.  With Cain off the books, the Brewers payroll for these 60 games is about 30 million dollars.  If MLB can complete its post season, each team gets around 35 million from post season television money.  That covers the Brewers payroll.  They also get money for their local broadcasting, money from Fox and ESPN for regular season games, and money from MLB, they will break even and probably end up making a little profit this year.

Rob Manfred works for the owners and there is no chance they decide to get rid of him.   He is making them so much money and increasing the value of all their teams.  The Royals just sold for a billion dollars and the Mets are going to sell for more than two billion.  He crushed the players in the last CBA and in the first three years of it the owners have earned over a billion dollars.  He just negotiated a huge deal with TBS for the post season after the 2021 season.  He pretty much got everything the owners wanted for this season as well.  The fans may hate him, football fans don't like Goodell  either, but the owners love him and he isn't going anywhere.

With the time MLB & the Players Union had to solve this, it shows just how unprofessional the game still is.

There was ample time to make a solid plan and contingency plans as well.

If baseball (as well as other sports and businesses) want to thrive going forward they had best remove their collective heads from their collective buttocks and get busy.

Understand who your audiences are.
Who your management is.
Who you labor is.

Get busy NOW!

There is  no excuse that MLB was not prepared to deal with these outbreaks.  The fact that they were not prepared to have 24 hour test result turnaround is just not acceptable.  They had months to make the plan, get it together, and act on it.  But, that is a part of a bigger problem that starts with the idea that testing is not important and if you test less, fewer cases will occur.

MLB is showing us what is going to happen when NCAAF kicks off and the NFL.  The cases that MLB has seen will only double and triple for those.

I didn't care for Manfred's comments he is not a quitter.  It is not about quitting, it is about being safe and when we start to see others walk away like Cain, he is going to have to address it.  More positives are only going to grow the pressure to stop.  This is going to be an interesting week.

Ryan Braun goes on the 10 day IL with an infected right index finger.  I don't think I have ever heard of anyone going onto the IL with an infected finger before today.  With Cain leaving the team for the season, the Brewers now need to make two roster moves to get back to 30 players.

I just get the sense that Braun isn't all into this season, at least so far.  Maybe this leads him to take the rest of the season off and re-evaluate after it.  Probably won't happen, but I would like to see Corey Ray come up and lets see what we got with him.  We already know Broxton and Taylor and neither have done much.

Bench coach Pat Murphy reportedly suffered a heart attack during the Brewers workout on Saturday afternoon,  Thankfully due to some help from the Brewers three trainers, team doctor, and the doctors at Froedert, it sounds like Murphy is expected to be fine.

Per Adam McCalvy:

Ryan Braun developed an infection in his finger, went to the ER this morning and they had to cut it open. He won’t be able to play until that heals.

Also, bench coach Pat Murphy apparently suffered a heart attack during workouts at Miller Park today. He's alright, but scary nonetheless.

No personnel decisions to replace Braun and Cain have been announced as of yet.

It's probably not what he was envisioning for a last hurrah. As Braun has alluded to, the universal DH probably sees him return, especially if 2021 is something closer to normal.

We're in unprecedented territory here with a cancelled series, but since the Brewers won the last series, I guess the thread creation for the White Sox series remains in Travis' hands.
