Basically the Patriots can bring him out of retirement, "graduation", whatever people want to call it. The Patriots are just that good! []

this also means compensation for the dolphins since they holdhis contract rights for his year. or was he not under contract? i am almost positive he had to have been.

This is "Post Graduate School". Probably going for his masters! []

SEAU'S UNRETIREMENT SOFTENS CANTON LOGJAM

A reader has raised a great point in connection with the decision of linebacker Junior Seau to unretire.

Seau's move, if he indeed signs with the Patriots on Friday, removes a huge log from the burgeoning jam of players who will come up for first consideration for induction into the Hall of Fame in 2011.
The list of potential first-timers come 2011 includes cornerback Deion Sanders, tackle Willie Roaf, receiver Jimmy Smith, and running backs Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk, Priest Holmes, and Curtis Martin.

And don't forget about the potential holdovers from the classes of 2008, 2009, and 2010, which will include guys like Darrell Green, Tony Boselli, Cris Carter, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, and Emmitt Smith.

Given the shorter waiting period for coaches and general managers, Bill Parcells and Ernie Accorsi likely will be in the mix as well over the next few years.

I don't think he was under contract. The Chargers were going to sign him to a "one-day contract" but they didn't when he "retired" on Monday; the team didn't have a roster spot available
