I know this happens every year with schools that make it to state in football but, will any early season basketball games be pushed back to accomidate the schools that are still playing football this week? This came to mind with the case of Reedsburg who will be playing in the state championship game Friday and then are suppose to play Wisconsin Dells in basketball the following Tuesday. That gives the basketball team only three days of practice counting Saturday and Sunday. Not sure how many kids this effects from Reedsburg but, Tyler Mazur the starting QB is also their leading scorer in basketball.

I read in todays Wisconsin State Journal, that Big Foot was postponing their girls game Thursday night due to the state championship game, and that their first boys game on the following Tuesday (same as Reedsburg) was also going to be moved, as 10 of the 14 players on the boys team also play football.

Yes the Tuesday's date will be moved. WIAA mandates that all players have a minimum of 5 practices before their first game.

The WIAA rule states that the team must have practice on seven different days before their first contest with another school. It says nothing about players. A player, in theory, could walk in the gym for the first time on game night and play assuming his or her team had met the seven days of practice criteria.
