Savannah St (3-8) at #16 Wisconsin (8-2)

Thursday, December 13. 2018

Kohl Center, Madison WI

Tipoff:  7:00 p.m. CST

Television:  Big Ten Network (BTN)

Point Spread:

"Savannah State (3-8), which visits the Kohl Center Thursday night for a game against the No. 16 Badgers (8-2), has attempted 501 shots from 3-point range through 11 games. That’s 45.5 per game, 7.7 more than the next-highest average in the nation.

That quick tempo and high rate of 3-pointers hasn’t exactly led to much success for the Tigers. They’re allowing exactly 100 points per game and were beaten 110-76 by Georgia and 120-85 by Vanderbilt."

I'll be curious to see what kind of game we get here.

Have a sneaking suspicion Wisconsin won't be scoring 90 in a half or 130+ for the game...but anything less than a 20-point victory here would be 😡.

I'd guess UW won't be their sharpest given the game they just came off of, the point in the schedule, and the fact that they are in the midst of finals. Savannah State is one of the worst teams in D1 hoops though.

I'm hoping to see Strickland get a chance to play through some mistakes. If he can't slow down, then he likely won't be seeing the floor in the future this season.

The Jackrabbits, who possess Mike Daum, are having another good season.  There were rumors circulating in the off-season that Daum had interest in transferring to Wisconsin.  Could you imagine a front court of Daum/Happ?  That would have Natty written all over it.

Yup....  Looks like they might get there before the end of the half.

69 points in the 1st half and on the way to 100 with under 4 minutes to.

What is up with Charlie Thomas? Does he have a face to the basket game after all these years? has he grown his game? has he been coached up to try different things on the offensive side of things? You look at a guy like Happ and before him Kaminski then now Reuvers. Then you see a guy like Thomas. Makes you wonder what is he working on in practice? I mean, seems like he ain't even working on his footwork all these years.

Thomas has no feel for the game whatsoever. His signature move is running right next to a guy that is posting up. The big man group in that class of Thomas, Illikainen, and Van Vleet is one of the most disappointing and low-achieving groups in Badgers history, especially considering the success level of the program at the time of their recruitment.

The Program Killers as I've dubbed them. To say nothing of the rest of the class being filled out by a guy who four years on can still only dunk and a sharpshooter who has never found consistency...eek.

If not for Happ sticking around, and AVV and AI leaving the team, Senior Day this year could have been more of a funeral than a celebration.

He got an extensive run-out last night and you can see some things to like...just a matter of growing into the system at this point.

That is easy to fix. Just keep moving I'd say for him, within 5-8 or 9 feet from the basket and set screens, crash the boards, box out, post up a bit, all kinds of ways he can affect the game without scoring the bucket. if he's crashing the board it seems with more movement, it would be hard for the opponent to put a body on him and box him out. he gets an offensive rebound close to the bucket, then the slam dunk comes in. but he's got to be active.

Tai Strickland score 14 points in limited minutes. How did he look? is this because of the competition or is his game slowly improving?
