1) She didn't know the countries that make up NAFTA

2) She didn't know that Africa was a continent.

3) She refused preparation for the Katie Couric interview.

She has ruined herself on the national level. There is absolutely no way she should even run.

Ugh, I feel dirty having voted for McCain knowing the level of stupidity Palin has.

I knew I shouldn't have voted.

Hey, did you guys hear the American public elected an African-American President?

I guess that's been the big story...not the actual issues at stake.

Are you kidding?

This is American politics we're talking about here. Not knowing simple facts hasn't stopped anyone from running for an office...or voting for that matter...[:-]

That said, the guide for the Republican Party that was set in motion during Barry Goldwater's unsuccessful run in 1964 appears to have finally run its course. It's time for new blood and new ideas to be injected into the Republican Party.

OK.....I can give her NAFTA, maybe she thought the question was NAMBLA and just got confused.

BUT not knowing Africa is a continent.....thats a tough sell. Im almost sure 1st graders learn that. How would that look for foreign policy. Not even knowing that Africa wasnt even a continent. Awesome!

The thing people don't realize is, is that it is not good for either party to ever have too much control.

Balance and counter-ideas are crucial to the survival of any democracy...people don't realize that.

Ideally, America would have more than two major parties...keeps everyone on their toes.

As it is, the Republicans have been entrenched in their style for probably a bit too long. History shows that the parties tend to bounce around quite a lot in their own little spheres...The Elephants have got themselves wedged in a corner, while the Donkeys have been troubled by their inability to get out of neutral and really do anything that isn't a stop-gap measure (people don't realize how Clinton messed certain things up).

Of course, if people treated politics like something more than a fashion statement, they'd realize this.

Yeah, it's almost as funny as the black woman who was happy that she wouldn't have to pay her mortgage or for gas now that Obama had been elected President...[]

Funny yes, still shes not running on a ticket for VP. Big difference. Im sure we all know what she probably means. But the way it came out can be taken as shes done paying, everythings free.

Again, I agree funny, but not funnier.

If that was Biden, you have yourself a winner.

She probably assumes Obama will help stabilize the housing crisis and possibly prevent more future foreclosures, and that he'll keep gas prices low... not that she won't ever pay for those things again.

Unfortunately, things will probably get a little worse. I said a few days ago (in my deleted post) that I would want to see what the market would do. It's dropped 900 points since Obama was elected.

He may even have to back off that taxing plan of his, especially since I've heard that Nancy Pelosi is probably going to bring up tax breaks. You can't just raise taxes like Obama wants to do. You put that fear factor into investors, which will make the stock market worse. Just watch all of the rich people with their money in our economic markets. They've been prepping for this. I think when McCain made his blunder weeks and weeks back about the fundamentals of the economy being strong, the market took a hit. That's when Obama took his lead and never looked back. That was probably when investors knew too and went according to plan.

Obama can't just do what he wants or even said he would do. He'll piss a lot of people off. People with money.

Semantics...what's scarier?

A geographically-confused VP candidate or the people deciding who is going to be making the big decisions not understanding the issues?

Remember we've had VPs and Presidents who couldn't spell or walk down airplane stairs properly and we've made it this far.

That's not to mention all the "George Bush is a moron" comments we've heard for the last 8 years.

I just guess I didn't know "genius" was a necessity for these positions...it hasn't been that way in the past.

It's obvious that Palin wasn't really ready for the VP spot, but the more important question (particularly now), is one that has been conveniently overlooked, is the vastly-inexperienced Barack Obama ready to lead this country? Or was he chosen because there really wasn't much other choice given how people feel about the last eight years and the fact that in that time period John McCain went from a viable Presidential candidate to a total stooge following eight years of right-wing browbeating?

There were a lot of things that didnt go into McCains favor. 1) Basically having to follow one of the worst presidents(favor-wise) in history. He being a GOP made it tough in my opinion for the GOP from the get go. 2) Sarah Palin was in all definitions of the phrase "Hail Mary" She was either going to make the campaign drawing off Hilary's loss, hoping to bring females. Or it was going to be dropped leading the same conclusion anyways.

Also I am on the fence if Barack is ready to go leadership-wise. I hope he can. Barack , i believe, is what we needed. Did you listen to what Barack does in his speeches. Hes a motivater. Its like having Bobby Knight come talk to your Basketball team. It would get you all kinds of jacked up. He played that card well and he did it well. Hopefully all that fire that he could portray in a debate or rally can be channeled into making the county better. If not, then its only 4 more years till the next election.
