The rash of recent professional wrestling obituaries continues with the death of Rowdy Roddy Piper. Piper reportedly died in his sleep, at home, Thursday night.

As much praise as Hogan gets for making the WWE what it is today due to the success of the first WrestleMania, Roddy Piper deserves a great deal of credit as well because that whole thing doesn't work unless the super hero is paired with an equally super villain and Piper was that guy. There are not many guys in wrestling that can play the role of the good guy or the bad guy so perfectly to where they could extract such an intense reaction from the crowd in either role and Piper was one of the very best, if not the best, at doing that.
