He can not retire, that would be the worst thing for him to do. He needs basketball to keep his life somewhat in order. Basketball will be fine without him, but he will not be fine without basketball right now. He can't function on his own in society right now without something to kind of keep him in order.

After his pattern of behavior both on the court and off, why should we care if he needs basketball? He's paid millions of dollars a year to play a game, and he can't control his actions. Just another punk in the NBA, if you ask me. Gives the good guys in the game a black eye. Let him go, and let him make his mistakes outside of the public eye.
