Rhode Island leads 71-68 with 4:06 left to play, both teams in the bonus. The difference in this game has been 3 point shooting, Duke is 4-16 while Rhode Island is 8-11. Overall Rhode Island has shot 57% to Duke's 44%. In the past Duke pulls these type of games out and I am expecting nothing different here, only time will tell.

Rhode Island is 10-13 from 3 as a team and Jimmy Baron is 8-9, he is single handily trying to carry his team to win here the last 5 minutes. Rhode Island leads 77-72 with 2:52 left.

Scheyer with 4 straight points and with 57.7 seconds left, Rhode Island leads 77-76. Delroy James comes out of the timeout and committs a foul and Singler hits both free throws, Duke leads 78-77 with 30 seconds left. Delroy James comes down and gets an offensive board and draws a foul on Lance Thomas, as he hits both free throws as Rhode Island regains the lead 79-78 with 32.7 seconds left. Then Delroy on the other end picks up his 4th foul with 19 seconds left and Singler hits both free throws as Duke leads 80-79 with 19 seconds left. Rhode Island brings the ball up the court and takes a timeout with 11 seconds left. Jimmy Baron misses a 12 footer Duke grabs the board, and is at the line with 3 seconds left in the game. Scheyer makes both free throws and the desperation shot is off the mark as Duke escapes with a 3 point win 82-79.

Phew! Didn't see the game, but came home and looked on Yahoo to see they were down 77-72 and just about had a heart attack. From the looks of it, it looks like Rhode Island just shot the ball extremely well and Duke struggled shooting. It's still very early in the season but hopefully this doesn't become a trend.

Once again Duke's most clutch player's on the court are the refs, and they came through as usual.

Duke always gets calls at home, its been that way for years.

But I'm not exactly sure what call(s) that you're referring to?

I wouldn't doubt it, but the refs were ACC regulars (no offense to anyone).

If I remember right, the foul that put Singler to the line at the end looked clean.

The foul on Singler to give them them the go ahead points was awful. It was a clean strip. Also Singler fouled Baron on the 2nd to last shot for Rhode Island and there was a no call. The reply clearly showed he hit his shooting hand and he didn't block the ball at all. But like other's have said this happens all the time to the power conferences in the NCAA. I think this will be the last time Coach K schedules Rhodie though.
