Now I didn't see the play, so I'm sure it will not be as I envision this and its an unfortunate injury. But when I read his quote, I couldn't help but think, maybe if you were hustling instead of watching someone else hustle maybe you wouldn't have gotten hurt!! Again, I didn't see the play but this just struck me as odd, almost funny, except for the fact that he got hurt.

Redd was injured late in the third quarter of the game against New York on Sunday at Madison Square Garden when Knicks guard Nate Robinson fell into his ankle. Redd said after practice Tuesday that had he not seen Robinson coming and braced his body for impact, his knee might have been blown out.
"He was hustling and my ankle happened to be there," Redd said. "At the time, I had a quick decision to make. It was either going to be my knee that was going to be messed up or my ankle. So I said ankle. The way my body was, my knee could have been (hurt) so I had to brace myself. I knew my ankle (was hurt) immediately.?.?.?. When I walked off the court I knew it wasn't right. I knew he was going to dive or do something and I tried to brace myself so I didn't hurt my knee."

Redd's injury was not a result of lack of hustle.

I would go as far as to say, the injury would have never happened had he not been hustling.

If Redd was truly hustling he would have not gotten hurt. He tried to pick up a loose ball on the floor by just bending over to get it. If he was hustling he would have sprinted over and dove on the floor.

I was watching the game and I remember how pathetic I thought it was that Redd allowed someone to hustle passed him to get to that loose ball.

Better yet, name a team he wouldn't start for other than the Celtics. Even on the Celts he would be the 6th man and get 25+ minutes per game.

Redd isn't a starter on the Lakers. They wouldn't want Kobe getting worn down all year by guarding bigger small forwards.

Redd wouldn't start for the Pistons. Iverson, Hamilton and Prince have 1-3 locked up.

Redd would not start for the Rockets. McGrady is a shooting guard, Artest in a small forward. They would need a point guard, and Michael Redd is not the answer.

Redd would not start for the Blazers, simply for the fact that Brandon Roy is better then him, and is a shooting guard. Roy does play the point in crunch time, but not as a starter.

Redd would not start for the Heat. Dwayne Wade is not a point guard, even though he is capable at times of being one.

Redd may also not be a starter for many teams around the league who need to have defensive players at his position. The Suns need to start Raja Bell to make up for Steve Nash. Playing Nash and Redd at the same time would be a disaster.

There's no doubt Redd wouldn't start for every team, but it says a lot about him around that league that he would start for 3/4 of them. I disagree with you about the Lakers though. The best Lakers lineup in the playoffs was Fisher, Vujacic, Kobe, Odom and Gasol. Pairing a deadly shooter like Vujacic or Redd alongside Kobe makes him extremely dangerous, plus I don't think Buss would be against the idea considering there was/has been looming trade talks of a Vince Carter for Lamar Odom trade where Kobe would slide to the 3.

Teams Redd wouldn't start for: Hawks, Celtics, Detroit, Heat, Memphis, Portland and you could argue the Suns, and Rockets. Plus, it's not like if the Hawks, or Memphis were offered Redd in a Kwame/Gasol type trade (expiring contract, prospect, pick) they wouldn't take it. They would in a second and make it work.

Man...this makes me think we should consider trading Redd if this season doesn't go well as his value is much higher than his productivity.

Michael Redd is overrated, if he played for the Lakers, he'd be Kobe's personal water boy and Sasha Vujacic's hair stylist.

why wouldn't you go to a lakers message board with that stuff? what good is it to come into a wisonsin board and a milwaukee bucks thread and dog one of their top players unprovoked? it's only going to upset other posters and possibly start a fight. why do it?

Because he is a Kobe Fanboy.

Other Laker fans love Kobe anyway, it makes no sense to brag about a player that everyone else is bragging about. He needs to tell people that aren't Kobe fans because its more filling.

Michael Redd is overrated. But that doesn't mean he isn't good.

He doesn't have the tools to put him with Kobe, Lebron, AI, Melo, D-wade, but he can score, and in the NBA, if you have a slasher like RJ, a distributor in Seissons, Ridnour, and a big like Bogut, you can get away with a guy like Redd on your roster.

Theres so many teams in the nba that there are superstars on teams that wouldn't even start on playoff teams. Michael Redd is one of them.

Redd would start for the Rockets, Spurs, Jazz, Lakers, Orlando, Toronto, Cleveland, Golden State, New Orleans and Dallas.

Yeah, that was the best lineup in the playoffs, but you don't see them starting now. Kobe is a shooting guard and the Lakers wouldn't change that if they got Redd. The wear and tear on Kobe would not be worth it. I think of Carter as more of a SF then SG, but he could go either way. And I would be 1000000% against any trade that involves Vince Carter and the Lakers.
