I read Bill Simmons article about firing Doc Rivers and he brought up something interesting. (actually he said it was his dad's thought) Keep Doc for the rest of the season and trade Pierce. Yes, yes I know, it's crazy to think that they'd trade their marquee player, but give it some time before the Celtics REALLY start to tank without any defense. So here's my thought:

Chicago gets:
Paul Pierce
Michael Olowokandi

Boston gets:
NY Knicks 1st round pick
Andres Nocioni

Seems sort of crazy but think about it. The Bulls have zero depth at center outside of Ben Wallace, and the Kandi man really isn't much, but he's a big body that will give Wallace some minutes to rest. (Not too mention Olowokandi has a big contract to fill Pierce's bloated contract) Nocioni will give Boston the defense and rebounding the Celtics so badly need and Pierce will give the Bulls the scoring and clutch scoring the Bulls would need in the final minutes in big games. If the Bulls really want to get to the finals, they will need someone to step up in the playoffs. Gordon is a good scorer, but he hasn't really proved his playoff experience yet. The Celtics will then have two lottery picks (possibly to trade up and get Oden) and then can take another G/F with their pick.

As much as I like Nocioni... I like the idea. Because they have Big Ben underneath to pick up the defensive slack now, so they don't need Nocioni as much. But then the Bulls will really be overloaded with guards.

Nocioni is a valuable scoring option as well. I think Paul Pierce would ruin whatever chemistry the Bulls are building. I think the Bulls will be fine if they stick with what they have and let things play out.

Why would I be sold on a team that's 3-5 and hasn't really looked that great this year aside from their impressive win over Miami. I am not sold on the Bulls as a dominant team in the Eastern Conference yet. However, I think they should keep what they have going for them now. They have a solid, young team that is developing good chemistry and has been for a few years now. Bringing in a guy like Pierce would ruin that. Am I sold on the Bulls? No, not at all. Do I think they have the potential to be very good? Yes.

I'm not either, but by the "the Bulls will be fine" comment, I thought you meant you were sold on them. My bad. I don't care that they've scored 100 in a few games, I'm still saying they don't have the offense to win in the playoffs. Plus they have no one to go point for point with against the likes of fellow Eastern Conference players Lebron and Wade.

More players would need to be involved because Pierce is a max contract guy. In order for the trade to work in the NBA, the salaries you receive must be close to what you give up unless you have that much room under the cap.

Hence why the Kandi man was thrown in there.

If the bulls go into the last 2 or 3 minutes of a game down by 3 or more I know they're going to lose... even if it's as much as 10, they always get right there and lose on the last one or two possessions... watch the games and tell me I'm wrong.
