I greatly apologize for not getting a QOD up the last couple days. Been pretty busy here at the ol' orifice. With tonight's WSN Day at the Mallard's event,

What is the best minor league/amateur/independent league event you've ever been to and why?

This would mean no high school, college, or major league professional events.

Tonight. (I haven't attended a game since the days at Carson Park in EC, and those days are "foggy.")

1) It's FREE, brought to me by the wonderful people at Wissports
2) I get to meet some of the "celebrities" and "who's who" of Wissports
3) I will get to finally see what all the hubbub is all about with the Mallards games.
4) I get to take my boys to a game, and they are looking forward to it.
5) Did I mention it was FREE

I would say this may, the 24th actually our HTL team (Jefferson blue devils) played at fort atkinson vs. their HTL team (the generals). Fort/Jefferson is always a big match-up and this was a great game to be apart of. First of all they had a huge fundraiser for the Calvillo family of fort atkinson, which lost their father Al, and son, Baily in winter when they were killed by a drunk driver. Al used to play for the blue devils but then his family moved to fort and became active in the youth sports community. there were a TON of people (over 2,000) at Jones Park that day, with sports memorabilia for sale and great food on hand. The generals beat us 2-1 but it was a great event to be apart of.

I'm sad to say that I have yet to attend a minor league game. This will be changing next year, I will be seeing some Timberrattlers games. Also, Frame Park in Waukesha will soon be home to a Northwoods team. I will most likely be attending many of those games, due to distance from my house.

August 1997 Timber Rattlers game. Game goes to extra innings, everyone stays and T-Rats double in the winning run in the bottom of the 13th to win the Midwest League Central Division. Plus fireworks afterwards.

I'm not sure was in Blue that game but agree it was not Dan.
The Saints are a blast thats for sure. I love the Japanese Karaoke singer between innings.

I am re-iterating my first post with updated information.
1) The souvenirs were cheap
2) The food was reasonable
3) The between innings activities were hilarious (baby racing?)
4) The company was nice
5) The G-String was nasty, but there was some decent eye candy
6) The announcer and the things they do during the game are funny. He actually started yawning over the PA when they were throwing over to 1st. Also, loved the "Beef Sticks" chant. Got a kick out of that.
7) The lady in front of us freaked me out.
8) Very kid friendly, very, which is a huge plus for me. My kids want to go back.

Dumbest thing I did? I spent $3 each on the duck calls. But this was a nice experience and is now atop my experience list for this type of event. We may even go back.

My favorite Mnor League moment was when Ponca City OK played Emporia KS in a KS/OK/MO league game in 1971.

A certain 3b hit 2 HR's and a triple!!

I was that 3b!![]

I am not sure if he did or not. If it is the one in the pics, no. It did not look like him. Also I think he has a normal mask and not the hockey mask style. I know he does a lot of them!

For the QOD if not late..

St. Paul Saints games are awesome! There is always something going on. They are extremely kid friendly and in between 1/2 innings a pig will bring the balls out to the ump and the ump has to feed the pig. It is a nice little stadium with a lot going on! Tickets are cheap and you can usually get them relatively easy. Games are usually sold out. they have a chair on the one side where you can get a massage from a nun if memory serves me correct!
