The third in my series of pre-season predictions. The following predictions are based on returning experienced contributors and playoff/tournament experience. It is my opinion the lower you go in divisions the more important tournament experience and coaching is to the success of teams aspiring to the state tournament

The Question:
Is it possible to predict next year's D3 State Qualifiers?

The Criteria:
Does prior year tournament experience matter?
Does returning experience players matter?

The Data:
Of the 4 teams in 2006 to qualify
- 2 was at State the prior year (St. Cats was D2 in 2005)
- 1 made it to sectionals

Sectional #1
Champ - Regis, deep run in '06 sets the stage for '07
Contender - Glenwood City, Prescott and Osseo-Fairchild
Dark Horse - Can Stanley-Boyd succeed with a freshman phenom?

Sectional #2
Champ - Roncalli, may be the best coached team in the state
Contender - Iola-Scandinavia, Stratford, Bonduel
What happened to - Weyauwega-Fremont, lost a lot of talent

Sectional #3
Champ - Acquinas
Contender - Cuba City, Markesan, Wild Rose
What happened to - Westby, move to new region doesn't help

Sectional #4
Champ - Dominican, already salivating at a possible showdown w/ St. Cats
Contender - Racine St. Caterine, Oostburg, Kenosha St. Joe
What happened to - Marshal, will really miss Craig Heiman

First St cats won D2 IN 2004 in 2005 THEY WON D3. Personnnaly I think Ostburg has the inside game over Domican. But Domican has the gaurd play. St Cat;s lost 3 very good players, that will tought to replace.

No, St. Cat's won D2 in 2005 and won D3 in 2006. Whitefish Bay Dominican won D3 in 2005.
