Is it true that some school districts allow 8th graders to play up onto Freshman or JV teams?

Thought that it was strange, since the kids weren't actually in high school yet, but I've heard of 8th grade kids in Monroe and Brodhead that are supposed to be doing it. I'm wondering which other schools do it and whether it's a widespread practice...

Section 17 of the rulebook allows for the request of an emergency waiver to allow an 8th grader to compete at the 9th grade level.

What are the guideline's in which to request one. Kinda just seems like a way to give certain people and edge on developing athletes.

It is possible to do but there are some very specific criteria that must be met. You can find it on the WIAA rules page.

Yea I heard that Kyleigh Sellnow of Monroe is playing on the jv team and she is just an 8th grader. I know that she played summer league with them anyways.

8th graders in Monroe do not compete at the high school level until they are in high school. I don't know who you're talking about, but you must be mistaken.

there was a kid at my school that was playing jv this year and he is in 8th grade, but that was only because he is 15 and wouldn't be able to play sports when he is a senior and is too old to play for the aayfl this year, but got some kinda waiver the other day or something and now is back on the 8th grade team.

Why is he in 8th grade if he's 15?
