Agrees to step down at the end of the year. I know we have some Tennessee fans on the board and also I hate Fulmer with a passion so I personally couldnt be happier.

My personal opinion on him was he was very arrogent and smug lot like Lloyd Carr in many ways, but Fulmer's teams have always been overrated to start the years, he hasnt made a BCS bowl in 10 years.

Tennessee has A LOT of problems now.

UT has been a storied program for a long time, but it takes a lot of work. The Vols need to recruit nationally to be competitive. That's one of the reasons why they have the largest recruiting budget in the country. Fulmer was pretty good at getting kids to come to Knoxville. His successor needs to be able to do the same. Their AD needs to find someone with a great deal of energy to do the job. He'll also need to find a coach that has the ability to stay with the rest of the coaches in the SEC.

I stopped believing in hard work and ethics meaning anything when the students forced Eddie Robinson out at Grambling because they wanted him to junk the Wing T that he won more games than everybody with .

Fulmer is just another guy who does not fit the elitist mold .

Alvarez was smart to get out of coaching when he did .

Will Bobby Bowden be the next ran out of town ?

Fulmer was an icon at Tennessee for so long, but he has just lost the edge he used to have. He used to have this aura about him and it has just faded quickly. It seems like Fulmer has gone soft in his older days and a change of scenery will do him and the school as well. Many Vols fans will be sad to see him go, and many have cited the fact that UT's mockery of the quarterback position is the main reason for the team's failures this year. As a Tennessee fan, my allegiance will stay with the school but still respect what Fulmer did for us.

As far as a replacement goes, I really hope Tennessee takes a look at Lane Kiffin. He's a younger guy with a spark, and I believe that 10 or 12 years in the SEC can help him rebuild his resume to get back into the NFL. UT needs somebody with a fresh perspective and attitude, and we need to get away from several years of questionable playcalling on offense.
