I know volleyball isn't that popular, but I can't believe there isn't a thread for this yet. I watched the majority of this match and WOW, this was a great national championship. Penn St. was getting crushed early and it looked like their streak of 101 straight match victories was finished, but they won the next 2 sets and then won the 5th and final set in dramatic fashion to capture their 3rd straight national championship, the only team in history to do so. Congrats to Penn St. and Texas on the great seasons they both had!

That match was arguably one of the best volleyball matches I have ever watched--second perhaps to PSU vs. Wisconsin in 2007. Four back-and-forth games (when they were still called games) pushed each team to the limits, and a blocked ball that bounced off Nicole Fawcett's head was called a tooled kill, giving the Lions a 14-13 lead and eventually the match in front of a record crowd...

After watching Saturday's match, I really hope Destinee Hooker chooses volleyball over the high jump in Olympic teams. I'd like to see her in the stars and stripes in London--when I'd think the USA could come in as favorites. Imagine Hooker and Hodge as Outsides on that team... wow.
