so in a regional final match up i think everyone knew was coming, who does everyone got. i would assume pec would undoubtedly throw vlasak, although i didn't hear hardly anything about there game tonight. barneveld beat southwester 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh of a dribbler back to the pitcher with the bases loaded that the pitcher couldn't handle and barneveld scored. they did get on base pretty consistently throughout the game though against an ace, which should've helped prepare them for lee if he pitches tomorrow. who does everyone think will win and why. im going to take barneveld. they have now seen lee, and could manage a few hits off of him. peterless was on top of his game tonight on the mound throwing nasty stuff southwestern couldn't touch, and i can't see clerkin having another game against pec struggling to find a strike zone. granted i have no idea whose going to pitch for barneveld tomorrow, but i would assume those two or shawn monson would be in the mix. we happily went and resupplied our tailgating supplies tonight, stocking up on burgers, brats, charcoal, and purple drank for the game tommorrow, and we all know this is the game everyones been waiting on all season.

barneveld won in easily the most epic game of the year. the tailgating started with pregame and some 80s hairband music blaring as the teams and the grill warmed up. then the show began. barneveld scored three runs right away in the first and showed it wasn't going to be smooth sailing for lee this time around. Pec did battle back though, twice, but fell short with barneveld winning 8-6. Lee pitched the whole thing im pretty sure for pec. clerkin started for barneveld, monson and peterson came in relief. clerkin then came back in with the bases loaded in the seventh, forced one infield pop up, and struck out the last batter of the game. definitely an awesome game. nice season to pec. barneveld plays belmont in potosi at 2 now on friday i believe.

I'm not gonna make a prediction because i'm playing in the game but i do have to say that this is going to be a great game... Both teams should be pitching their aces, and both will bring their A game... Good ole fashion grudge match, one game a piece, for the past 6 years this has been the regional final game and it wouldn't be right any other way...
Thats all... I'm out like a lampshade

Epic Win in Blanchardville
By Greg Clerkin
On Wednesday, June 3, The Barneveld Eagles baseball team traveled to Blanchardville to take on the Pecatonica Vikings. The Eagles and Vikings have met in this regional final match-up the last six years for baseball, and this one proved to be another instant classic. Pecatonica sent Senior Lee Vlasak to the mound, who in a previous match up this year only allowed 2 hits and had 15 strikeouts against this Barneveld team. Barneveld sent Senior Patrick Clerkin to the mound. Clerkin Vs. Vlasak, Barneveld vs. Pec, what more could you want from a regional final baseball game? Barneveld came out and showed that this time would be different than last against Vlasak. Scoring three runs in the first inning, confidence soared for Barneveld. Pec showed why they were ranked #1 in the state for most of the season though, coming back and scoring two runs in the bottom half on the inning to keep the game close. The second inning Barneveld kept the runs coming, piling on another two. Pec struck again in the bottom half on the third scoring two more runs to make the score 5-4 in favor of the Eagles. After a scoreless fourth inning for Barneveld, Pec scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead, meanwhile forcing a pitching change from Clerkin to Senior Shawn Monson. Refusing to hang there heads, Barneveld came out and scored three runs in the top half of the fifth inning to gain control with an 8-6 lead. Monson was too much to handle in the bottom of the fifth and sixth for Pec to garner any runs. Barneveld was also held scoreless in the sixth and seventh inning, giving Pec one chance to score 2 runs to tie the game, or 3 for the win. With the top of the order coming for Pec, Barneveld handed the ball to Weston Peterson to attempt the save. After some questionable balls called on beautiful curve balls, and a couple hits from Pec, the bases were loaded with only one out. Skipper Lance Schmitz decided to turn the ball back over to Clerkin, knowing he would want the ball in a chance to close out the biggest game of his career. After forcing a sharp liner to second, which was caught by Beau Thompson, Clerkin had only one out to go to clinch the victory. Facing Pec Senior Harley Demler with a 1 ball 2 strike count and the crowd roaring, Clerkin buckled Demler with a nasty breaking ball for strike three and the win. After an epic roar the team celebrated a win that meant as much as any game in the postseason tournament could defeating there biggest rival on their field. The Eagles took two out of three games from the Vikings this year, this one being the biggest. The Eagles will play in the Sectional Semifinal at Potosi on Tuesday June 10[sup]th[/sup] at 2:00 P.M.
