add in a new DC, what timeframe are we looking at for his "System" to be at full strength? is it a 2-3 year process or 3-5? or is this how it's always going to be? I'd say scrap half the current players and start over.

I'd expect Gutekunst's focus this off-season to be on defense, still to expect a massive change by next year might be a bit much.

It will be interesting to see what moves are made...and who's no longer around.

How has focusing on Defense worked for this team?  The secondary still gives up bombs, still no pass rush, and the defense as a whole is a sieve.  Losing Mo Wilkerson won't help either.
There are glaring holes on Offense too.  The O-line is not very good.  Bulaga (a guy I thought they should have released in the off season) is bad and unreliable.  McCray gets manhandled up the middle.  Add to that the offense is geared towards hitting plays 15-20 + yards every play, save for when they had to comeback and protect Rodgers against the Bears when they had to go to quick hitting rhythm plays.  Years of mismanagement by the front office are rising to the surface of this team.  Will this team make the playoffs?  Maybe, but can they compete against teams like the Rams, Saints, Falcons, Panthers, or the Vikings in the playoffs?  I don't think so.

I said Gutekunst will probably focus on defense next year, as the re-shaping of the D in Pettine's image continues. Not referring to Thompson's insistence of drafting defense only and praying they develop. There was only so many moves Gutekunst could make this year.

OL will also be a priority and there probably needs to be a big FA splash made there.

This franchise has a lot more issues then it will admit to (hey, look at our ticket waitlist!), and I kinda am hoping for a dud year and the potentiality of cleaning house of MM and his stooges, who failed miserably with the back half of the draft and develop philosophy, and have developed egos that have been unearned. I often wonder how much that locker room actually respects him. He hasn't come off well to the public in quite a few years now.

I was not aiming my comments at you and did not mean for it to sound like that...it was more of a comment about the failure of the front office in the past.  TT and MM have caused this happen, with the enabling of Murphy allowing this to happen.  There are far too many holes in the dam and it is going to break at some point...probably soon.  The team just invested a heavy sum into Rodgers, but the roster is far too imbalanced at this point.

I agree with you whole heartedly regarding the second bolded statement.  The offense is stale and the team is undisciplined, committing way to many stupid penalties.

Maybe I just don't remember it but I don't remember Jackson getting hurt. Do you mean King?

Yep, my mistake - I did mean King.
