In recent years the Packers' defense could not have been counted on to hold Chicago down in the 2nd half in a game of this nature.  Kudos to new Packer Defensive Coordinator Mike Petine for having his young troops up to the task !

Chicago Bears  23

Wow.. I thought for sure that was a ACL just by the looks of it.  I really can't believe what just happened.

On another note.. Clay Matthews is lucky there isn't many other OLBs on this team because this guy is washed up.  Not only did he almost cost his team one of the most improbable comebacks of all time, but he didn't get pressure before then and it appears he is no longer capable of doing so on a consistent basis.

This is probably his last year in GB.

Boy, this team needs to focus on OL, DL, and LB going forward.

I don't think we're out of the woods just yet with Rodgers' knee, I have a sneaking suspicion something is, at the very least, sprained and may require some time off to heal.

Adams, Allison, and Cobb make plays... Collinsworth slobbers all over AR .

Agree, Dan.

In his post-game presser, he said Doc McKenzie cleared him to play the 2nd half vs the Bears because he (McKenzie) felt AR couldn't hurt the knee any further.  And, although Rodgers danced around the issue somewhat, he did state that the knee would be further examined & evaluated on Monday and if there was nothing more to the injury than already known or suspected, he would be good to go on Sunday vs. the Vikes.

So I surmise there is some damage, obviously, and Monday's exam should reveal and/or confirm the specific injury and the necessary treatment & prognosis.  So yes, the possibility exists of something more serious than what is currently suspected.   Fingers crossed ...

The Adams and Cobb throws, sure. Not sure any other QB can make the Allison throw while healthy, much less injured.

The Allison catch was also fantastic. Definitely took two to tango there.

I had the same thought.

My overreaction to game 1 was that the defense is better than in previous years, particularly the secondary. Trubisky is a young QB, but at times, I thought they were better than what the Bears had at WR. I haven't gotten that impression in many years. There might be talent at that spot. When is the last time GB had depth and talent at CB?

At this point in Clay's career he hurts the team playing OLB. He cant hold down the edge - I watched several times and he either got pushed inside or simply got outrun/run around. I do realize the Pack has few options, but Matthews has been pretty much 'washed up' the past few seasons - whether it be because of injury or because he just has gotten old and doesnt have the speed/quickness/explosiveness anymore. Playing ILB might be a better option to get something out of Clay  -  playing the OLB position just puts the pack defense at 10 against 11 on the offense. The defense played well DISPITE Clay - now it has been a long time since we could say that.

Why Matthews was ever allowed to move back from inside is beyond me...I know he personally preferred it, but he was actually quite good inside a couple years ago. From the lowlights I saw from Week 1, he looks like that sad last year of KGB when he'd just charge upfield every play and they'd run underneath.
