Since Barnett is incapible of moving outside and Poppinga is doing a very good job himself, why not? I think Hodge is (and always was) capible of playing the middle.

This has been brought up before and although it is a good question, you have to have the appropriate DE's to play a 3-4. The Packers DE's are too small. You typically want them in the 280-300 pound range for a 3-4 and Kampman, who is their biggest (I think) DE is only 270. Getting new DE's for the 3-4 would cost way too much money and be extremely difficult to do.

i dont know if i would want to see it all the time but i think it could do some good just to throw another look out there. hodge did play pretty well on monday. as for DEs we could just throw out another DT and keep kampman, or 2 DTs just to clog everything up. it would be interesting to see

They occasionally use a 3 man front when they employ their 3-3 nickel package. I don't remember who they had on the line for those plays though.

I dont know what you guys were watching. Hodge had a horrible game Monday. In fact a reporter asked him today how many millions he thought he had made off of Hodge's performance. Just because he fell into that TD doesnt mean he had a good game. You can usually assume when a back has 200 yards that the middle linebacker probably had a bad night.

You can't place the blame entirely on Hodge. Did Hawk or Poppinga make any plays (AJ Hawk is turning into an excellent downfield tackler)? The front 4 did a terrible job keeping blockers off the the linebackers (that is the scheme they run). If the front 4 isn't going to play to scheme and keep the linemen off of the blockers, then they better be making some plays themselves, and they didn't.

Scheme-wise though against the run, I thought Sanders had a pretty poor game plan. A lot of stunting away from the obvious off-tackle running plan of the Seahawks. Worst part was he never adjusted after the half. They were going at KGB, or his replacements all night long, and he never addressed the issue!

The biggest problem was not having your defensive signal caller (Nick Barnett) on the field.

He may miss some tackles and not be too stout at the point of attack, but that defense is complete sh** when he's not out there.
