Besides the Antigo 54-33 win over SPASH that has a thread already, the other Valley opener scores:

Merrill 48 @ Wausau East 20
Rhinelander 59 @ Wisconsin Rapids 65
Wausau West 46 @ D. C. Everest 57

Saw the West-DCE game. West led by 6 at the half and really should have led by more. Everest used some full court pressure in the second half to turn things around. West didn't handle it well and after solid shooting in the first half, cooled off in the second. Janet Scoresby had 19 to lead DCE, which was a surprise as she had only two in the opener on Friday. Sam Barber and Carmen Leitermann each were in double digits as well for DCE. West got 16 from Lindsay Miller and 10 from freshman Jessica Waldvogel. It really was a tale of two halves. Both teams will make some noise....but DCE will need more from Lindsey Litrenta, who was held to only three points but apparently is recovering from some injuries......and West needs to handle the pressure defense better. Both will be tested this weekend......Everest is playing in a tourney in Iowa and West hosts Wausau Newman on Saturday. Though interesting how almost all the players that made noise are underclassmen.......these teams have alot of room to grow further and be very good by the end of the season.
