Well if hitting a lot of homeruns puts you on the list then you might as well put half of the NL on the list then too. No one really cares about the Brewers until they start winning and people still might not care. Fielder just wont get enough attention to be a savior of the game.

well those arent just my opinions they were written by sports writters, i was just relaying what people in the media thought. but fielder wont just be a HR guy. when hes in his prime i think you can expect him to put up 40+ HRs, 110+ RBIs, and hit high .280s. fielder is just an all around good hitter. hes shown it all the way through the minors and theres no reason he cant up in the bigs either. and i dont think the brewers will be a losing team at that time either.

I really have disliked him his whole career other than I was starting to like him a bit when he was working his butt of for the United States in the WBC.

ryan howard is a savior right now already.

Agreed and I think you could add David Ortiz in there as well. If Clemens was actually true, it would be a large, huge black-eye on baseball because of his awards and what he has done at age 40+. It would be a shame

I find it funny that these same sportswriters that bitch about steroids and crap used to be the same people who helped make the home run chase in 98 as national as it was. I was/am a huge fan of that race in 98 between Sosa and McGwire and I don't give a crap what people say. That was the most exciting time in baseball in a LOOOOONG time and I bet most people on here were fans of it too. You shouldn't really bitch about players and steroids if you were going/watching games to see if either one of those guys was going to hit a home run, the truth is - this event along with Ripken breaking Gehrig's streak helped baseball recover from the strike of 94 and to me, that was and still is the biggest black eye on baseball. Do I believe McGwire will get elected to the hall this winter? Had you asked me before the Congressional Hearing last year I would have said yes. Since McGwire refused to even answer the questions (which by the way people ANDRO WASN'T EVEN ILLEGAL IN BASEBALL NOR THE US when he took it. Andro is manufactured as a dietary supplemant; he was using it to help recover from previous season ending injuries and when he found out that a reporter had gone through his locker in 98 - he stopped taking it because he didn't want kids taking it) he damaged his chances for getting in on the first ballot especially with Gwynn and Ripken on the ballot as well. I've tried to be as quiet as possible on McGwire because I didn't want to deal with people throwing wild, baseless accusations - I've had to deal enough with people ripping on me for being a McGwire fan.

why is that?

it is as simple as there was little to no evidence in 98 compared to little or no evidence in 01 to present.

you wouldn't have made a big deal about homeruns in 98? you already said you were a fan. do you hate steroids now? probably. you are the same thing as the reporters then.

No, the evidence with McGwire is Andro. It wasn't illegal in baseball nor even the United States in 1998. McGwire even stopped using it after the reporter dug through his locker, because McGwire didn't want kids to use it. McGwire hit 49 as a rookie in 87. He gradually went to 70 in 98 - 49, 32, 33, 39, 42, 39, 52, 56, 58, 70, 65. 12 Home runs in a year isn't a huge jump up esp. compared to Bonds who went from 46 in 2000 to 73 in 2001. Thats a 27 home run jump in one year. As for me hating steroids....it doesn't bug the shit out of me because its the players that should worry. I hate Bonds because he's a jerky piece of crap a**hole who doesn't care about anyone other than himself.

And you know this how? The same could be said about McGwire too, DK.

Fielder a savior of the game? LOL.

ive seen a few articles naming fielder as one that will help get over this steroid thing by putting up pretty big power numbers without the juice. give it a few years he will be one of the premier power hitters in the NL at least. he was closing in on 30 this year and just turned 22 after the season had started
What articles are you referring to?
