South Florida and Notre Dame are Big East games so Marquette has no choice but to play those games.

Not really, MU has nothing to gain so they might as well get the money out of it and be able to have it on their home court. They are giving UWM a free shot at a Big East team with Marquette having everything to lose in terms of status.

so you're going to tell me playing Valparaiso, USF, and Notre Dame (all alway games) would be more benefical than playing UWM?

Actually it is the same deal as Bucky and UWM have.

Kind of. In the UW deal, UWM could get 2/7 home games.

In the MU deal, UWM gets 1/5 home games.

I agree BS deal...who has won more NCAA tournament games as of late?

Doesn't surprise me with Crean, though.

Who cares if it is a BS deal. If an horizon league team wants to play a Big East team 7 times they will have to comprimise. UWM has to start somewhere to become a bigger name team.

IN the UW deal, the Badgers are guarenteed 3 home games then they play two home and home series.

In the MU deal, Marquette would be guarenteed 3 home games and then play one home and home series.

In a sense, the number of guarenteed home games for the bigger university is the same.

Look at it like this: Play in the US Cellular Arena which seats 9,000 or so? or play in the Bradley Center which seats 18,000+. Both teams are in Milwaukee so if the want to play at the BC and consider UWM the home team, fine by me. UWM should be happy Marquette isn't playing them this year because the game wouldn't be close.

I guess it doesn't really matter - UWM agreed to the deal today, just some financial things to work out. What matters is Crean finally has grown a pair and is willing to play. Granted he waited for UWM to get graduate their all-stars, but so be it. UWM should be thrilled at the opportunity.

The UWM fans/students however, might get the shaft. UWM can most likely attract 4-5,000+ students for this game. Just look at the past Horizon League tourney games. But where do you think MU is going to put those 4-5,000 (if they even give UWM that many tickets) - in the rafters, while the Gold students are behind the basket. That's why UWM should want to make MU play at The Cell.
