Also goes to show once again how HBPs/walks kill, particularly to guys leading off an inning...

it's kind of interesting that on 3-0 to the lefty A.J., the brewers elect to pitch to him instead of walking him in favor of a righty-righty matchup. i can understand the logic a little bit (you don't want to move the go ahead run to 3rd [even though with 2 outs he's scoing on a hit anyway], and you have hoffman, just let him pitch) even though i don't agree with it (put the lefty on, force out at any base and you have righty v. righty). the brewers got what they deserved in that situation, really.
i would also like to add that Pierzynski is hitting .294, fields is hitting .228. the more i think about it, the less logical the decision was.

DiFelice was the other JS curse. Got injured right after and ended up missing a week and a half between that and the bereavement leave, although the bereavement leave may have prevented him from going on the DL.

Yes. that's it.

How does Gamel swing through those two fastballs? That was...awful...for a supposed pure hitter.

what's wrong with gamel? are his hands slow? pulling his head? waiting to long? what? he is behind everything and is having a hard time just putting the bat on the ball. that jenks through a 94 mph fastball (heat, but nothing a mlber can't hit) about thigh high and gamel was behind it like it was a 97 mph at the letters.

That ends a pathetic homestand.

Now the real grind begins.

Hopefully, they get this crap out of their system in June, so it isn't hanging around in August/September.

It was just terrible pitch location on 3-0. Blame Hoffman/Kendall. They both should know better. Same can be said on Podsednik's single. Why throw it where he wants it?

you're right, it's on hoff/kendall, not macha. looking back at the at bat, he was trying to walk him in the "we're not going to intentionally walk you, but you're not getting a strike so if you swing, that's your own fault", and they screwed the pooch on the 3-0 pitch.

As much as I like him and think he is a potential all-star and would have liked to see him grab ahold of that third base job, they have to send Gamel down tonight. He's struck out in 12 of his last 17 at-bats. Bring up Irribarren and have him play some second with McGehee (with McGehee getting most of the playing time) and have Hall/Counsell platoon at third. Hopefully Gamel can get back on track and be back up in a month or so and make an impact down the stretch.

is there anyone else in the minors with good power? I agree, gamel has to go down and start hitting, i think the lack of playing time (not that he deserved to get any, i'm just saying some guys aren't good at pinch hitting all the time) probably affected his timing (not sure how else you can look so bad so consistantly).
the thing that hurts about losing gamel is that now there's 0 power on the brewers bench. gerut, frankie, counsell, are all primarily singles hitters. i'd feel better if there was a russell branyan type on the bench along with those guys.
